Ah, tea...
Dec. 4th, 2005 01:01 amToday was blissfully and fabulously lazy. Generally lounged around, had tea, sorted out some notes. Listened to Jonathan Ross interviewing Nick and Alex (Franz Ferdinand) on Radio 2. They played the song Eleanor Put Your Boots On. It provoked this reaction:
ROSS: Fantastic! What a great song as well, you know, cos it's one of those songs that doesn't mean anything! I love it! You know what I mean-
ALEX: It does! It means everything!
ROSS: It doesn't mean anything! It's great! I love that song! It's people jumping off buildings. It's great! They're my favourite kind of pop record. He just made it up as he went along! It's... well it's a filler, but it's great!
ALEX: Oh come on...
ROSS: Oh I'm joking, guys.
So, what is the song about? 'In a way it's quite a simple, straightforward song about wanting someone called Eleanor to put their boots on and come back over.' In other words, take a wild guess as to the name of the lady he's currently stepping out with. Awww.

They're on the XFM breakfast show tomorrow morning - you can listen to it online. Now that will be a nice thing to wake up to!

The interview was very sweet, it was the only time Alex seemed not quite able to laugh off Ross' continual jokes and jibes. It does, it means everything!
Awwww.
