So, the family is deciding we should go broadband **does dance of joy**

The question now is who do we go for? ntl? Virgin? BT?

Can anyone particularly recommend their current server? Or can anyone warn us off of any of the same? Also, given there will be six of us battling it out for access, anyone have any idea what these download limits are all about?

I too am researching this. Here's what I've concluded so far;

Avoid stuff with download limits - if you're blogging, etc AND have to share your allowance with the family, 2 gigs or whatever will go nowhere. Here are the one's I'm considering

AOL Silver
Talk Talk
Telewest - they offer bundles, including your satellite telly - definite savings to be had.

It's generally cheaper to have you phone bill and internet bill with the same provider.

Remember that you still have your BT line rental on top.

Er....that's it. Still researching.

I use Telewest I get all the TV except movies, some phonecalls included, broadband (with no limits)and it's 95 a month

Personally I wouldn't use BT

UKonline are ten pounds cheaper than BT, with no download limits, a 4:1 contention and great service. Go for them. NTL have a terrible connection record. My parents' ntl line is always going out, and they only stay with them because the service has been so awful for so many years they don't have to pay any more (which is strange, but it makes a certain sort of sense).

I'm on AOL Gold and except for a small initial headache when I was setting up the computer for it when I switched to broadboand, it's been a very good reliable ISP.

I was going to recommend Telewest, but you've already said you're in a non-Telewest area.

So, really, this comment isn't of much use at all.

But I'll ::hug:: you to make up for the uselessness ;-)

Wowsers!! As you know I go through pipex, £23.99 a month or something like that but mine is 11Mbps, thata s helluva a lot faster than most and I've had no problems whatsoever with them!!

We have NTL, there's been the occasion it's went down, but that's rare, you also get your phone and digital, and we run two computers of the connection, I think it depends on the area though, here it's ntl, in other parts of the country, it's telewest, it depends on who has the cable, but I'd go for something like that, rather than BT or Virgin, it's more value for money IMO and it's a flat fee for everything, the only added on is the phone bill, and in the days of mobile phones, do all of you use the house phone that much?

I could recommend one.

But I don't think a Texas one would do you any good, either. :D
