Another question...
Jan. 20th, 2005 09:44 pmCan any of you imagine me as a teacher? **waits for the laughing to die down** Not entirely sure if I'm seriously tempted or not.
Hmm, so, this year I'm supposed to be thinking about what to do next with my life. To date, things I've decided on is that (a) I need to feel that what I'm doing will actually be useful to someone, and (b) I do not like having to learn by sitting for an hour plus, supposedly meant to absorb facts like sponge when they're babbled at us by some often-not-that-great lecturer.
Point (a) currently has me investigating medical Physics. Point (b) has me looking at doing a masters by research rather than taught. Only then I decided to have a look at the teacher training course website. Did you know, that if you train to be a science teacher, then the govenment will:
- pay your fees
- give you £6000 to go on the course
- give you £4000 if you complete the course
- possibly pay off your entire student loan
This *points upwards* is seriously tempting. And... I don't know. Teaching. First thing that springs to mind is that if I ever did become a teacher and get posted to some secondary school, the pupils would eat me alive. I know. I've seen it happen. But... but... Hmm...

What happened to the guinea pig farm? Or was it bumble bees, or both?
