I have a couple of long haul flights in the very near future and am looking to arm myself suitably with reading materials.

Thus far I have Wolf Hall, Bringing Up the Bodies, Cloud Atlas, and a couple of Kate Atkinsons to keep me going. However, I would love to have a few more.

So, dear FL, can you rec me some good reads please? In particular I'd love some lighter chapters for when I'm jetlagged, in the past I'd have gone for some Jeeves & Wooster or a Gerald Durrell, but alas I've managed to go through all of those.

So. Any recs?

Have you read any of the rivers of London series yet? It's about a London copper who's a trainee wizard and I find them a quick, fun read.

C J Cherryh's Foreigner universe if you're up for some scifi with utterly brilliant world building. She's currently written 13 novels in this series (in trilogy arcs) and 14 and 15 are planned. I'm a trilogy behind but the first trilogy blew me away.

Have you tackled George R R Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series yet? If not it's a good way to combat a long plane journey.

Michelle Sagara West's Sunsword quintology are also brilliant books.

Roger Zelazny's Amber Chronicles...

Ben Abromovich's Rivers Of London novels have been recc'd to me by others.
