The return of the trenchcoat, I mean SPN
Sep. 25th, 2011 01:31 amSo after the build-up of the past few weeks, SPN has finally returned to the TV schedules. Between that and all the new interviews/promos for the next season of Merlin I really have been pinging off the walls recently.
Spoiler-free summary to the ep? In no particular order: I winced, I laughed, there were 'awww' moments and I'm looking forward to next week.
For the spoilers: CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSS!!! *smishes*
"He was young. And sexy." BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!! That and Cas changing the stained-glass windows to include himself made me chuckle.
But Cas and Dean, oh my heart. The look, the look, on Cas' little face when Dean sanpped at Death to just kill him already. Don't worry Cas, it's a sign of how much you meant to Dean that you succeeded in pissing him of this much.
Sam finally swam up into my notice in a big way with his dogged refusal to give up on Cas entirely. Hats off to him for acknowledging that Cas is not the first one to let himself down. It was a nice 'twist' given how he was the one Cas had completely written off after the back-stabbing incident. I also liked the parallel with how both he and Cas kept things from Dean in order to help Dean maintain his 'happiness'; considering how that wound up working for Cas I guess Death did Sam a big favour in busting his cover early on.
As for other appearances.
Well obviously Crowley had me clapping my flippers with joy. Each and every one of his scenes was delightful. Glad he's sticking around for a bit.
And Lucifer! Considering I never had strong feelings about the guy when he was actually live and kicking I surprised myself by being positively over the moon when Luce popped-up once more. Evil and playful, t'is a good mix when you can just tell the actor's having a ball with the scene.
If I was going to nit-pick it would be that it was all tied-up rather quickly with Cas agreeing to give-up the souls. But then again this is TV and they need to get this new season fully on the road. And also Cas may be arrogant, but he is still trying to be a good guy and when faced with undeniable proof that something is going wrong (the massacre) it does seem in keeping for him to do whatever it takes to protect the innocents.
And the Leviathans (did I spell that right?) - oooh they do look great fun so far. Evil and playful but on a whole new level. Reminds me a little of the Joker in Dark Knight, slightly manic, gleeful and basically chaos incarnate. Hats off to Misha for effectively nailing 3 different characters in the space of just 45 minutes.
So in conclusion: CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSS!! *smishes* I'm going for 'Gone but not dead.... yet' so will wait and see what is the final fate of Thursday's angel.
