In the world of fannish things this weekend has been a good one: I've continued to bask in the SPN S6 finale afterglow, Doctor Who gave me an ace finale, and Bradley gave fandom less than 12 hours notice that he and some of the knights would be playing in a charity football match this afternoon (gosh you would almost think he didn't want us to mob them...)

So from SPN have a vid rec: Phenomena is dead fun (though packed to the gills with SPOILERS for all of S6). Nothing like badass!Cas to warm the cockles.

Then on to Doctor Who. Non-spoilery: I give it a thumbs up although I'm still not entirely sure what is going on, though to be honest I don't care as I am now utterly smitten with our cast.

Not since Wes and Lilah have I been so smitten with a het couple. Amy and Rory ♥♥♥ The speech at the beginning where she tells her daughter "There's a man who's never going to let us down." I was fooled into thinking it was of course the Doctor she was talking about up until she said HE IS YOUR FATHER dundunDUUN at which point I realised who she really did have absolute unshakable faith in and my heart grew several sizes too big for my chest.

I'm glad we finally have an answer about who River Song is, and it was very cool to see all the familiar faces popping up.

I also liked all the foreshadowing going on with how names can come to mean something else entirely. The Doctor now being seen as a name for warrior. The Sontaran snorting at being described as a warrior when he's actually a nurse; Rory of course hearing all this in his Roman armour and also starting out as a nurse but now with a name all of his own. Not entirely sure what it's foreshadowing for but for now I'm happy to just go with the flow.

Rock on the next series, I look forward to seeing what comes next!

Back to Merlin and this year the Soccer 6 match was being held up north. This time, for the first time, we got an actual Team Merlin ♥ Yep, Bradley, Tom and Eoin led their team into the tournament. Pictures and reports will be few and far between given that no-one knew about it until pretty much the 11th hour, but there are good covering posts here and here with what pics and tweets can be found.

Sounds like they did pretty well. Very well in fact. In short THEY WON. *beams* Eoin and Tom celebrated by stripping their shirts off and who can blame them :)

And finally what post can be complete without some shameless boy kissing. A while back this still from the play The Pride caused a flutter in Merlin fandom due to a rather uncanny resemblance to Mssrs Morgan and James. Fast forward to today and we get this:

Another one for the 'the resemblance really is uncanny' folder then, I'm not complaining :)
