Look at this, posting about SPN more than once a year, wonders will never cease.

All I can say is this ep was made for me :)

Oh where to begin, it's like someone custom wrote this ep for me.

Not only do we have Crowley in magnificent form, but we have him being in magnificent form opposite Cas. I want to draw little hearts around the dynamic the two of them had this ep; from the beginning with Crowley all cocky and using Cas' good intentions to lead him astray, through to them bickering about him being 'up to his arms' in it, and then their fight over the Winchesters *happy sigh* I've no doubt that Crowley would quite happily leave Cas and the Winchesters to burn when he no longer needs them, but in the meantime he does sort of care in a very demon-y way. He did come to save Cas and take the time to try and give him a bit of advice.

And I do like how for all his cockiness there is the hint that Crowley is a little afraid of Cas still. He does have the intelligence to not underestimate his enemies (for example the Winchesters) even if he's also smart enough to not let them know they've got him rattled.

And then they added on the behind-the-scenes look at heaven with all the loyalties and the sibling tensions ♥♥♥ Good to see Rachael again with her POV of the angels needing to believe God is sending them instructions somehow, and then on to Raphael and his and Cas' showdown. For all he stirs things up, I do like Raphael, the actor who plays him must be having such fun with the role.

Have to admit I did laugh a bit at the ring-of-fire moment between Dean and Cas, it was so like a soap opera where partner A discovers partner B has been unfaithful. I almost expected Cas to come out with 'He means nothing to me, Dean!' Not to say I didn't love it nonetheless.

Annnnd we finally got an answer as to who yoinked Sam back earthside. So it was Cas, and his look when Sam walked away from Dean... *pets* I'm glad we sorted that out and no I do not believe Cas deliberately brought Sam back souless.

The question still remains who brought Cas back; I know everyone is assuming it was god but have we yet had a definitive answer? ETA:But but but! We did get one of the questions I pondered last week answered, namely 'No'; angels do not have souls. But still, if you can corrupt a human to a demon (e.g. Crowley) I wonder if there's a similar point for angels.

I'd like to think we'll get a good follow-up to this storyline but the way it ended they could now quite easily leave Cas on the sidelines and pick it up again next season. I hope not but if so then this ep will be a decent SPN finale for me :)

can i start off with saying how much i love Mark Sheppard! Between this and the last 2 Doctor Who episodes last night i'm pretty much ready to build a shrine to the guy.

but on to the story my my Castiel has dug himself into a bit of a whole hasn't he. At the same time i can't help but think that Dean's a little naive and idealistic. Things really aren't that simple sometimes and saying "we'd have figured something out" doesn't solve the problem. Yeah their long shots have worked in the past (and will probably again it is a tv show after all) but you've got to think that one day one of these 'shots in the dark' one of these 'go in swinging and hope for the best' plans is going to fail and with what's at stake fail spectacularly. But then Dean was always a 'the end doesn't justify the means' kind of guy so he was never going to be on board with that kind of plan. But then that's one of the things i always love about Dean he sticks to his principles.

There was a lovely piece of acting from one Mr Jensen Ackles when Cas slips up with the Superman line. The look on Dean's face said it all, you knew Dean remembered and that he knew Cas was lying to them and had been spying on them ... all with one look.

i'm sure loads more things will occur to me but after just finishing watching the episode that's my initial reaction. The next two episodes are going to be interesting!

with Cas the wheels of this thing are in motion it's already out of the gate and charging down the hill, i stop it and try to go in a different direction will be very very very difficult if that's the choice he makes.

I think Misha will make an appearance but i don't know how or how it will all tie in and we have to wait too.

I think Dean is being hypocritical esp as he himself worked with Crowley under his own steam in season 5, yes it wasn't on such a huge thing but he did join forces of his own free will.

I also love that Crowley is the only person not underestimating the Winchesters. I just thought that that was curious someone finally went hmmm look at all the people who've come up against them and failed maybe i should bear that in mind with my dealings with the Winchesters.

Yes i agree that i don't think we'll get much more on this story this season it would be very difficult to wrap up this story line in 2 episodes.

Also the idea of hell and that never ending queue - genius! talk about cruel and unusual punishment.
