Contrary to evidence I am in fact still alive. RL is rather abuzz at the moment with job applications, last minute portfolios, sluice water unexpectedly cascading through office ceilings, you name it it's happened.
Today I battled the odds to make it to the cinema and finally see this Inception. I would say that yes it is highly enjoyable, yes the fight scenes are very pretty, and thankfully it didn't turn out to be as complicated as I'd feared. Plus it had a brilliant cast; I've a soft spot for Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and when you throw in a bit of daddy!angst - well, I was a happy camper :)
But of course what really drove me to actually post was the ever faithful Merlin. Although official news has yet to break, word from the crew is that the new ep of series 3 will air in less then 20 days time. HUZZAH!!
And this was just building on the joy already brought by SFX's S3 spread. If you want to remain spoiler-free, DO NOT read the interviews. BUT I would say it is glazing your eyes so you can look at the pics as they are very, very pretty and epic.
It includes a little gem of an interview with Angel and Bradley, with the beautiful last question of:
SFX: Bradley, how much do you mind being an objectivised lust muffin?
Oh I wish I could have been a fly on the wall to see Angel's reaction, I wonder how long it took her to stop laughing. Ah well, Bradley, bless him, gave as good an answer as you can give to something like that:
Bradley: I'll find myself setting out to do a scene and it'll be a scene where I'm just having a chat with Merlin, and then one of the script editors will come down and say, "We've had a message from production: Bradley's going to do this scene with his top off." I can understand that part of the show. It's something that is kind of inevitable in the role that I play in the show. It's not something where I go "Oh great, a chance to get my top off," but at the same time I'm not naive enough to think that it's not something that people look for in the show.
On a shallow note: *sigh* Ah yes, I have no objection to more shirtless!Arthur and Merlin scenes.
On a slightly more serious tack: I hope Bradley isn't selling himself short, so to speak. He's come on already from the early eps, there's no way he could have pulled-off Sins of the Father when we first saw him; here's hoping they keep pushing him as I think he's still capable of more. Particularly with Colin there to *ahem* hold his hand, fix his hair, and generally provide moral support :)

Date: 2010-08-23 07:01 am (UTC)I am really looking forward to new Merlin too. I keep kind of forgetting it in the wave of US shows, and then remembering it, and it's like a brightly coloured gem among the rest. A brightly coloured gem involving Bradley James getting his shirt off.
