Malcolm Tucker would be proud
May. 10th, 2010 10:34 pmDear god in heaven... so I watched some of the Ten O'Clock News and barely a minute in it felt like I was watching a particularly fantastic episode of The Thick of It, there was even an appearance by Dan Miller at the end with the speech that on paper reads 'Nope, not saying anything about whether or not I'm standing' but when listened to is a clear 'Yep, he's definitely standing'.
If it weren't for the fact that this is our government flailing around, I would find this all incredibly funny. In some ways I still do. There was a pointed comment from one of the news readers that this 'is what you voted for'.
He's right, we did. I did. And Gordon Brown was right (and Tucker would have been proud of that speech and its timing) - we have a hung parliament because not one of the party leaders was able to win the full support of the country. There's a strong message in there somewhere.
