The plot thickens
Jul. 8th, 2009 10:28 pmHmm. I'd say that Day 3 of TW has been my least favourite ep so far, which sounds a little harsh as it still rushed by at a cracking pace. The character insights were again at a minimum, but it was so the plot could advance something fierce. Only two days left now *wibble*
As always, if you know anything of what will occur in the final 2 eps, keep it to yourself, I only know what's aired and I am prepared to maim and traumatise to keep it that way :)
x. Gwen and Rhys. I miss them. After the lovely lovely moments of the past 2 eps I missed seeing their relationship though I understand that it had to happen given how much else had to be covered this ep. Likewise...
x. Jack and Ianto. Still trying to get my head around just what was going on with them this ep, they lacked the ease around each other of the previous 2 eps. Given how emotional Ianto was over getting Jack back last ep it seemed odd not to have a more immediate acknowledgement that it was good to have all of them back under one roof. Although that could be just why they were so stiff, men and emotions do not always mix well, plus the whole shadow of TW1 yet again over them might have added a little extra tension.
x. Jack and Gwen. Again, oddly stiff around each other. I'll probably need to watch again to decide what I think about Jack showing no qualms at dropping Gwen in it regarding TW knowing about the pregnancy before Rhys.
x. Jack and the children of 1965. *yawn* Yes I guessed his involvement from the first ep when it became clear there were more memories coming. What I wasn't sure about was just why the kids were given away. It turns out to be as a gift. Which fits given Jack gave Jasmine up to save the world from the fairies. Presumably the 456 promised to go and never return if they could just have 12 kiddies and of course TW would agree to that.
x. Alice Carter. I'm liking her. I like her backstory and how her mum made her and her son practice how to go into hiding. I'm not entirely sure she'll survive this series but I'm interested to see how things finally resolve between her and Jack by the final, final credits.
x. Frobisher. Oh poor Frobisher. It's sad seeing how TW aren't getting quite the full tale, only seeing him as evil and in league with 456, whereas we (and to some extent Lois) are seeing just how much he has been shafted by those really in power. Still, he's trying, his actions may be hard to understand but at the end of the day he wants to protect Earth.
x. Lois. I think we are seeing the new TW recruit coming to fruition. Not bad for her first assignment, and I loved that Rhys was the one who never had a doubt she would come through.
x. Hi Andy! Bye Andy! Hopefully he'll get a bit more chance to be useful before the end.
x. Clem. Hmm. His strange sense of smell still hasn't been explained, and I also wonder what part Jack and the others played in the past when he ran away from the light instead of following his peers.
x. 10% of Earth's children. Damn. We still don't know why. I want to know why. *twitches*
x. Back to Jack and Gwen and Ianto. I'm guessing that the others will give him a hard time about what he did in the past. I'm hoping that Ianto will be the first to ease off given that he is former TW1 and how he acted towards his own niece, he should understand even if he doesn't like it. I'm imagining Gwen will find it particularly hard to swallow, especially as she now has a sproglet of her own on the way.
So. Much to mull on between now and tomorrow. Dude, we're officially halfway there...
