Ianto, you glorious bastard
Jul. 8th, 2009 12:42 amSo. Slightly less character insight than last week. Do I particularly care? Well, not so much, not yet :)
Just a reminder that I am not spoiled for anything beyond what has been shown in the 2 eps aired so far. Spoil me for the remaining 3 and I will rain pain and anguish down upon you.
x. I love Ianto's family, in particular his brother-in-law. I love how it's obviously not an easy relationship between sister and brother, but in they do care and they are trying. To be honest Ianto has not treated his family particularly well this series, yet still they rise to the occasion and help him. Gotta love how the entire estate mobbed that car and did the job so easily.
x. Gwen and Rhys. Oh my heart. Again they steal it. Rhys offering to carry the bag, finding a way to get them to London, and then being over the moon at the prospect of being a dad.
x. Lois. She's growing on me. Again her finding the information would be more impressive if she hadn't been handed the codes, and if the MP hadn't for some inexplicable reason decided to have top-secret conversation and trips right in front of her. BUT, hats off to her, she did come through in planning the break-in with all the maps, times and contacts. Give her the infor and once she has an aim she knows what to do with it. And she's a PA, which makes me wonder...
x. Ianto. Effectively started as the butler/PA. Does this mean she's being lined up to take his post when he's killed-off? Because there are what could be anvils lurking over dear Ianto's head. Though the optimist in me would like to think that it's just because he has become so much a field agent that it'll be hard for him to go back to just office work, they'll need someone to cover the duties he used to do.
x. Forklift truck. I know it featured at some point. I did NOT know the circumstances or when it was expected, so although it was utterly OTT and riddled with plotholes, I cheered like a loon when the shock rescue came. Oh Ianto, I utterly felt for you heartbreak as you watched was happening to jack, I felt for you at being able to finally break him free.
x. Capaldi. Continues to rock. In fact the general government cast are all brilliant. His assistant Spears is oddly touching in her loyalty to him, the creepy 456 expert guy is gloriously creepy and unnerving, and the PM is cold and brutal and makes me really feel for Capaldi's character. He's trying to keep his focus and his belief, and I think he'll keep them, but it won't be easy.
x. Johnson (?) Assassin lady. Interesting to see her remember that she is as expendable as Rapesh was to those she serves.
x. PC Andy. Not a great start, lad, though I suppose you were obeying orders. I hope next time round you'll be more ready to be subversive and stick with your gut instinct when it comes to Gwen and Torchwood and not lead the baddies straightaway to their door.
Right, and with that I'm for bed. Tomorrow is another day and more importantly, to quote the ad, 'we are coming'. Rock on, Torchwood, rock on.
