I HAS LOVE AND IT WILL NOT BE DENIED
Jul. 6th, 2009 10:18 pmOh Torchwood.
♥♥♥♥
Bloody hell that was brilliant.
Ianto. Gwen. Jack. Rhys. Oh I have missed you. Rock on tomorrow.
First off, I only know what has been revealed in ep 1. Spoil me for any of the upcoming eps and I will hunt you down and make you watch the latest season of Smallville on an endless loop.
x. Gwen. Gwen and Jack. Their delight at her pregnancy. Finally, for me anyway, they get the UST just right. Both guys so obviously love each other something fierce, maybe it is a bit in love with each other too, but they also love with the other and are equally happy with the Rhys and Ianto in their lives.
x. The doctor. I am so glad I was unspoiled for him, I was already letting myself smile at seeing how yet another well-meaning soul is drawn into the TW web. So, that's one recruit down, which leaves...
x. Louis (sic?). I like that she's observant about the uniform, but she'll have to do something more than take advantage of a username and password handed to her to impress me. At the moment, actually, I'm wondering about whoever broke into the TW SUV. If it really is that secure, then possibly there is a tech genius in training.
x. The Harkness family. I do feel for Jack, but I also do feel for the daughter. Her realising her own father is prepared to use his own grandchild to investigate the cause. I can understand his reasoning, and I think he would have done everything in his power to keep the boy safe, but at the end of the day I'm with her. I'd find that a overly bitter pill to swallow. Which leads me to...
x. Ianto. Yes my heart breaks a little for him in how he's trying to figure out just what he and Jack have. I think he's using the 21st century labels because frankly they're the only ones he knows, and whilst he may like them it looks to me like he knows damn well they don't apply in this instance, hence the verbal fumbling with his sister. I've gone on a tangent. Ah yes, my original point. Just as Jack was prepared to use his grandson, Ianto was prepared to use his own nephew. Thankfully his sister wasn't wise to his real motives, which is a blessing for her. Ianto and Jack are a good match, in a way that can be slightly chilling at times when you see it from an outside perspective. Torchwood through and through those two.
x. Rhys. The dude. The man. I love this guy. I love that Gwen does too.
x. MALCOLM TUCKER!!! Okay, not actually Malcolm, but I am joyful at seeing Capaldi again, and love that he's got such a grey role in this. Like old-school Torchwood he'll do what needs to be done, but you can tell that when it's all over it won't leave him unscarred.
x. The pregnancy. I hereby decree that neither Gwen nor Rhys (nor the glowy blob) can die. If they do I will personally hunt down and choke a bitch. So so happy for the pair of them, how can the babe not be awesome when it finally pops out into the world with parents like that :)
x. Jack and Ianto. It's not conventional 21st century, on the one hand Jack hates being labelled a couple but on the other he has no problems at all acknowledging that he is with Ianto and that kiss looked like it wasn't just to soothe Ianto before booting him out the Hub, it was because it was also genuinely needed by Jack.
Right, I need to get something to drink. Maybe tea or something stronger, less than 24 hours until the next round...

Date: 2009-07-06 09:48 pm (UTC)Yeah, this, definitely. Wish there had been more of the manlove and less of the "are we a couple?" thing.
I want Rhys to do more, and I was surprised by Ianto's comments about Jack, how it's "just him". But anyway. And the daughter thing. Man that must be a bit screwed up :S Wonder if we'll ever find out who the mother was?

Date: 2009-07-06 10:03 pm (UTC)I personally was delighted that TPTB finally got rid of all the Gwen/Jack nonsense and made the pairings clear - Jack/ianto and Gwen/Rhys - the team dynamic was so much better for it. And yeah I love the scene where she finds out she's pregnant - its just such lovely acting from her.
And Ianto I love and no more needs to be said!!

Date: 2009-07-07 10:55 pm (UTC)And yes, if anything they have actually given some credence to the Jack/Gwen for me. If they'd played it like that from the start I'd have been on board. Anyway, water, bridge, etc etc. As you say, I'm loving the team dynamic as it is, such a fierce bond between them all.
Ianto... oh Ianto. Ye can be a ruthless bastard at times, but I do still adore thee :)

Date: 2009-07-07 10:56 pm (UTC)I think it's the lack of Jamie, if Jamie was there we'd never be in this mess, the Caledonian mafia would never allow it to get this far...
