Buenos dias!
Jun. 29th, 2004 04:54 pmAnd no, I´m not saying anything more in Spanish as I´m still pretty poor when it comes to the actual speaking side of things. However, if someone told me to take a long walk off a short cliff, odds are that I´d understand everything apart from the cliff part :)
The keyboards here are driving me insane. If you can battle your way to a console, then you´re allowed 1/2hr tops, and then you´re off again. Which means that ´pissed-off´ doesn´t even come close to your state of mind when you realise that some smart-arse has set the keyboard keys to something entirely different to what they´re supposed to be, and that they´ve left the default language in what I think is Japanese. Confusing to say the least.
Other than that, life is good. The sun is out all the time, it´s so hot that the focus point of the house I´m staying in in the air-conditioning unit, and they sell really yummy chocolate croissant-y thingies at this patisseries near the Pl. de Catalunya.
In other news, I am missing my RPG-ing. It´s a sad, sad thing when someone mentions a squid as part of our lesson on seafood, and I instantly go misty-eyed with nostalgia...
Right. Back into the fray, lessons begin again in fifteen minutes and the people queuing up to use this thing are giving me the Look of Death. Moving on then.
*hugs* and hope you´re all doing well.
p.s.: it is also annoying to see all these updates on fic, and know that I can´t read them until I get back! *wail*
If you are posting or reading a fic during the next three weeks, and if you have the time, a little link in the comments to the relevant memories section may just make me love you :)

Date: 2004-06-29 08:21 am (UTC)Are you in Barcelona? I love it there
Oh yes the key boards are very strange, they do things you don't want them to...
It sounds like you are having a really good time.
Take care honey xxx

Date: 2004-07-01 02:03 am (UTC)Yep, am in Barcelona. Last night finally had my first homemade tortilla.... *yum*!
Hope the tax forms and such aren't driving you completely up the wall. Just remember you have CK in October to help soothe away that stress.... ;)

Date: 2004-07-01 02:14 am (UTC)Sadly, however, they only seem to stock the pathetic clear Barcardi stuff. Not the nice dark concoctions that could floor a man at twenty paces. Ah well... ;)
Your new icons are very, very cool by the way!

Date: 2004-07-01 02:20 am (UTC)Actually I spent a good part of last night, when it was too hot and humid to do anything other than lie really, really still and hope you just spontaneously fell asleep, trying to think up of a good theme tune for dear Miss Ram.
The the moment the two songs twirling round in my head are the Stones 'Sympathy for the Devil', and Christina Agri-thingy's 'Dirrty'.
Stop sniggering!
The problem with the first is that the very first verse has the words 'I'm a man of wealth and taste'. So genderwise it doesn't quite fit.
The problem with the second is that frankly it implise the person is having fun and generally letting her hair down, which Ram most certainly doesn't do - old stick-in-the-mud that she is. If I could someone remove the stick that seems to be shoved up where the sun don't shine, then maybe I could find something for Ram. But at the moment I'm drawing a blank.
No. I'm not obsessed. Stop looking at me like that. ;)

Date: 2004-06-29 03:06 pm (UTC)*hugs* Hope the lessons aren't too awful - just think - in three weeks time you'll be able to understand the extra jokes in a Basil Fawlty/Manuel conversation!
Ficcing at a standstill here. Typical - I get off on holiday tomorrow, and I just can't get the Wesathon fic to work!
Sending you happy studying vibes!

Date: 2004-07-01 02:26 am (UTC)Ahem.
Actually the classes are great, the teachers are really nice and my fellow-students are all equally pleasant. The only problem is the heat, which means that we're all knackered before the lesson's even begun. Ah well.
Ficwise I have come up with two possible ideas for my Wesathon piece, although one of them might be considered a little evil and I'd have to check with another author first that she doesn't mind me borrowing one of her ideas... hmmm.
If I get the chance, I might email you to run the ideas past you and get a second opinion.
**tears hair**

Date: 2004-06-29 04:24 pm (UTC)Ummm, the first part of Heat (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=lostgirlslair&keyword=Heat&filter=all) is up. :-)

Date: 2004-07-01 02:30 am (UTC)Believe me, I really, really want to read that part of Heat. But this is a small computer room, with people having the nice tendecy to look over and see what you're reading/writing in the hopes that you'll soon bugger off and let them have a turn.
Suffice to say I did a quick skim through, certain words intstantly sprang to my notice, and I hastily had to retreat with much gnashing of teeth.
From the comments I can tell you've done a sterling job, again, and I'm really looking forward to finally being able to sit down and read it in peace in a few weeks time!
**hugs you for leaving link**

Date: 2004-07-01 02:32 am (UTC)Ah, squidify, such music to my ears...
LOL! Thanks for that sweetie, made me smile and no mistake. In my mind's eye I can still see the beak, the pissed of expression, the supreme helplessness of a poor squid when cooped up in a tank...
*sigh*
Nah, no chance of me forgetting you guys just yet!!

Date: 2004-07-01 02:36 am (UTC)I was listening to Queen last night actually. Felt a little surreal, and the people on the metro did give me odd looks when I kept hmming random snippets of 'I Want It All' and 'Under Pressure', but other than that it's all going very well :)
*hugs*
