Farewell weekend of awesomeness, obscene amounts of sugar, alcohol and not a great deal of sleep. Fri/Sat kicked off proceedings with wine, more wine, tequila, shopping, and watching the new Star Trek.

Let me repeat that in case you missed it. I have seen the latest Star Trek and yea I have squee and will not be denied.

F**king AWESOME :) So much love for that film. I am now seriously tempted to actually start watching Heroes just because it has Mr Quinto. Great casting all round, I can't wait to watch it again and bore people silly with random quotes worked into everyday conversation.

Then it was on to celebrate the elders' 60th wedding anniversary. I arrived amidst thunder and lightening and scary amounts of rain. I left in sunshine after being very well fed and having silly amounts of champagne waved in my direction. Good times.

The new Trek completely, completely owns me. I may or may not be inclined to see it a fourth time this week...

Seriously, it's funny, hip, action-packed, has lovely moments for the trekkies, a perfect cast - plain fucking AWESOME indeed. It lacks certain things next to the original series, but since it's an introduction to the "new" characters, and stands extremely well on its own anyway, I still adore that thing like nothing else.

Also, best vid of the year: I'm on a Boat.

(I'm actually pimping it to spread the infatuation, so that I can stop feeling silly for being obsessed about that song now *g*)

If I had to complain about the casting I think my only gripe would be that they seemed to slightly underuse Eric Bana - great, great actor and whilst it was fabulous to see him I could have done with a bit more chances to chew scenery. Ah well, I'll just have to wait for the DVD to come out so I can scour the extras... :)

I cause mild bemusement with my work colleagues this morning, it's hard being the only vague Trekkie in the department, none of them could understand the cause of my supressed squee, they merely laughed at the symptoms :)

And yep, went with purple, and yes I have your top. Will hang onto it until our paths next cross...

Heh, well I would say it is definitely one for the sci-fi fans, which as you've said before isn't really your all time favourite area. I on the other hand am now happily trying to work out a way to put the phrase 'Set phasers to STUN' into normal working conversation without anyone noticing...

I spent yesterday afternoon curled up on the sofa watching a dodgy copy of ST - it's not great but will do until the dvd gets released ;p

Also my Mysterious Cities of Gold dvds have been shipped! ;D
