So, I was watching Law & Order UK this evening. Only frankly it got utterly upstaged by the advert for Lewis that came on towards the end. I mean, I'm sure part of it was down to the good ol' slash goggles but I don't actually watch the show and even I was left a bit stunned by the massive Lewis/Hathaway ark that steamed past on my TV screen.

Damit, I missed it! Tell me, tell me, tell me! I do watch the show and there are quite a few subtle hints at Lewis/Hathaway possibilities bubbling away under the surface.

Tell meeeeeeeee!

Oh, dammit, now I have to hunt it down or leave ITV on until it comes on again. LOL! *draws big sparkly hearts around them both*

Hathaway's sexuality is pleasingly unclear in this show. (The big blond one) The only time we've ever seen him getting busy with a girl, it turned out she used to be a he. ♥

Oh! Oh, yes! I had totally forgotten that bit, which is shameful, as I only recently acquired all 2 previous seasons so that I could watch them with Mommie Dearest. She thinks Laurence Fox is edible. *g*

If you need help hunting them down, I can point the way. ;)

(Edited to remove nonexistent 3rd screened season. *G*)

HAHAHAHAHHA! Yes, exactly that! Though it really isn't hard to upstage LAOUK because my friend, it is gobshite! Even when I thought the Lewis opener yesterday was rather pants plotwise, it was still at least very lovely to look at and OMG, could they cram any more irrelevant eyefuckery in there? Not to mention, when Lewis's CO was trying to hook him up with the (blatantly) mad lady, and poor Robbie stood there looking pleasingly awkward, all I could think was damn, Hathaway is going to scratch her eyes out if he catches her trying to pimp out his boyfriend!

And on a more spoilery (from the trailer) note, what's the Big Distracting Sekrit Hathaway can't tell him in the middle of the case, hmmm?

Removing the missus gives Lewis emotional depth and something to angst over in quiet moments. (*rolls eyes*)

Hathaway is the perfect insubordinate subordinate with academic credentials and a canonically states love of Oxford. (He was also in the seminary for a while. :D )

I have to admit I watched the first series on and off, mostly because while I am quite fond of Hathaway's cracker-dry subversive wit (shades of Ianto!), I still find Fox Jr inherently a bit creepy, don't know why. I also would have liked Lewis to veg off into comfortable old domestic bliss in some ways - however, removing his wife and then giving him an openly sexually ambivalent sergeant who seems very happy to run about trying to look after him on the sly... well let's just say I find myself not over unhappy about this! I also like all the ways in which Lewis+Hathaway is NOT a retread of Morse+Lewis, and that Lewis is still a chippy resolute anti-intellectual snob forced to put up with great splurges of 'intellectual' nonsense from all the Oxonian idiots around him. Whately does the best long-suffering beagle face!

I've tried a few times with LAO and it will not gell for me. I think it's Airfix telly and utterly without any virtues, sorry!
