Oh Merlin.

I... I have no words. Just... *hands* The music. The emo music of d00m and heartbreak, with violins and lone singing voices and gratuitous slow-mo shots. Arthur and Merlin both seriously looked ready to burst into tears when the shit hit the fans about what Lancelot's heritage truly was. Lancelot was effectively the ultimate Mary Sue in this ep, with everyone adoring him, but it worked because (a) he is a mythic Mary Sue and (b) he somehow didn't manage to come between anyone, he adored Arthur and Camelot, he cared about Uther on Arthur's behalf, and he refused to take Merlin's credit for the griffin.

In short. How do you go better when you've just had the slashiest ep possible and firmly established an OTP? Answer: threesome. :)

Plus Merlin and Lancelot coming downstairs with matching hangovers after drinking with Arthur the night before. They were so sleeping in the same bed.

The music is wonderful. All rich violins and swelling crescendos and the bit with Lancelot wreathed in magical mist and Arthur looking at him adoringly with a big sign flashing in neon above his head reading "I have a huge crush on you"

Plus, the 'on your knees' part - I do not want to tell you where my mind went right then.

I don't think anything will top The Poisoned Chalice though. With the slashy glowing ball of love and the stern fatherly discipline of putting Arthur in jail. I still haven't recovered...

Oh god yes, they so crashed in the same bed and probably fell asleep the night before geeking out over Arthur and Camelot.

And the music. ARTHUR!! His expression of utter helpless adoration, the same expression Merlin had when Lancelot saved him at the start of the ep. Even Uther couldn't deny it, his 'I see you feel strongly about this, Arthur' when Arthur took him to task for not restoring Lancelot.

Plus, the 'on your knees' part - I do not want to tell you where my mind went right then.

Your mind was not alone when it went there. *blush* I felt so unclean, but, honestly, what else is there to think when you have to roused up lads all hot and dirty from the field *ahem*

The slashy ball of glowy love. I think you're right in terms of father!angst colliding with the epic!slashy!love. The crushing of the flower *sniffle* But Uther did at the very end say he was proud of him, and that Arthur must always remember that. My heart...

As I was watching this episode on Saturday, I had the two of you in my head the whole time. I could see you both squeeeing over the daddy!angst and the OT3 with every smile on Lancelots face *whistles*

We are so utterly predictabe. I feel like the writers just reached into my brain and pulled out the things I love best and put them up there on the screen with cute boys and sexy ASH. *sighs in contentment*
