randyfangame. Theme was Friendship.
Set mid-Season 2.
“Gone,” says Wesley mournfully. “The rum is gone.”
“Relax,” Cordelia slumps against Wes and smiles up at him. “I’ll get the next round.”
It gets that rare grin Gunn never tires of seeing, and then Wes is putting his arms around the both of them. “You’re such good friends.”
Cordelia positively purrs, melting into the impromptu group hug. Gunn has to put both arms around Wes to reach her. Then she’s pulling away, purse in hand.
Wesley turns that wonderfully bright gaze Gunn’s way.
“Yep, good friend,” he says, with the silly grin of the plastered. His hand lightly brushes over the shaved head and the smile widens.
Friend.
Odd, Gunn always thought that this word would break his heart. Instead it makes him grin back like a fool. And when Wes giggles again, relaxing against him without breaking the easy one-armed hug, Gunn swears he feels like a sunset just burst up inside of him. And he really can’t understand why he was afraid of the ‘just’ friends thing. Because if this is friendship, this ease, this warmth, this utter contentment, then only a fool could still mourn that there was nothing more.

I can just see the lovely bright blueness of those eyes - and that cute grin.
And the gorgeous S2 friendshippy vibe, with the special handshake and the nickname and the easy hugs and tender solicitude.
