What.
WHAT?
WHHHAAAATT?!!!
...
Actually, I'm not that worried about anything. Although that could be the wine talking. Suffice to say there was laughter, tears, and an 'OOOOOOOH!' moment :)
Okay, I enjoy Doctor Who, really I do, and I adore Tate and Noble.
But.
Dude. I bloody adore Torchwood and oh good god but it was marvellous to see Jack, Gwen and Ianto once more. It's going to be a while till we see them again, so I drank in every moment *basks*
Anyway, flash forward to the credits. Am I worried that we're about to lose Ten, and Sarah Jane, and Gwen and Ianto (and incidentally it's bizarre that one of my fangirly flail moments was getting to hear an army of Daleks all shuffle off intoning 'EXTERMINATE TORCHWOOD' - my show haz arrived!!!)?
No. For one, Sarah Jane has a second series to be in, so I'm assuming Luke and Mr Smith will save her. Ditto for the Torchwood team and their new series - I don't know if they'll actually be able to defeat their Dalek or if TW3's own special weapon will come into play. No, I have no idea what that special sekrit weapon could be, but considering last time they almost took out a cyberman using BBQ sauce and a pterodactyl, I'm not putting anything past these guys :)
Also, hasn't there already been photos of Tennant out and about filming the Xmas special? Though if we DO get a new Doctor, I will be well impressed and very excited. However, I'm not holding my breath. There'll either be a reset button or some more magic wand waving (as with Jack's teleport device just needing two numbers - hah!) or it'll be down to that 1-sec out of sync thing keeping him regenerating into the same body. Who knows.
And on the subject of bodies...
Davros. Otherwise known as the Ghost Master from Torchwood. Although I think he was in one of the weakest eps in the series, I always was very impressed with the actor, and I was again here. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him. He was creepy and eerily effective - good show, sir.
Khan. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! A mad Dalek waffling on rather like Drusilla. Loved it =)
HARRIET JONES. NOOOOOOOOOO!! *sob* If there is a reset button thrown somewhere, I hope she returns, but I won't be too miffed if she doesn't since, wow, what a grand exit.
And back to Torchwood.
First shot of them and they're all picking themselves off the floor and we have Ianto's crack about there being no change in him losing another shred of dignity. Plus his refusal to be abashed at finding O'Grady funny at inappropriate times. PLUS him being the one to twig that the former-PM was about to sacrifice herself for them. PLUSPLUSPLUS - 'Yes ma'am' - him backing up Gwen and standing with her as the Hub door rolls aside as we get A F**CKING DALEK IN THE F**KING HUB!!!! *SQUEEEEEE*
I was going to be a little peeved about Jack being quite so easy at leaving his team, but (1) he then went and made a big big point about him coming back to them. Also by that point any hope of saving his team lay with the Doc, so obviously he was going to drop everything to try and keep them safe. (2) Ianto kept the news that the Daleks had just locked onto Torchwood secret, or rather he only told Gwen. Very quietly. Jack was already on the other side of the Hub getting the magical two numbers from Martha via his phone. So as far as Jack knew, the Doctor was on his way and Harriet had ensured that the signal location was masked keeping team safe for a few seconds longer. (3) 'You better be' - as Gwen pointed out, after Tosh and Owen, TW3 can't afford to lose any more team members just yet, and Jack knows that he couldn't take another loss. Gwen and Ianto have to try their bloody best to keep alive, for his sake more than theirs.
And before this waffle completely runs out of steam...
Donna.
Oh dear. More and more anvils falling from the sky. She's something new. She drinks purifying water. She's got great loss ahead of her. This isn't sounding good. *clings to her* Don't leave us, Donna!
ETA: One final thought. I did like the confirmation of why Sarah Jane doesn't like Torchwood. Too many guns. And I also liked how as Luke stepped in and basically spelled out for us how the magic wand would be waved this series, Jack's reaction was the brief jovial laugh and 'Brilliant!' and then instant switch to the serious 'Who's the kid.' Hmmm. Yep, that's Torchwood, don't wave something too unusual under their nose or they will want to go and investigate/dissect it. I imagine Luke is only safe now because he's with SJA and thus by default with the Doc. But that could be a fun, dark AU short fic for someone to play with *ponders*

Date: 2008-06-29 01:55 pm (UTC)I assume that the next episode will start with the Doctor turning into... himself! And there'll be a big wank as to why that happened, but I'm not really bothered because A) I don't really watch DW except when Torchwood's involved, and B) Tennant's brilliant in the role so I wouldn't blame them finding a way to keep him.
I'm officially concerned, however, for Martha and Rose. Haven't really gotten to know Donna, but she's on the list too. I would not be surprised if, after expanding the DW world to cover all the aspects (Sarah Jane, TW, UNIT and Rose) in the massive finale, they go and kill them all off! Well, all those without spinoff series' anyway!

Date: 2008-06-29 03:03 pm (UTC)I'm also expecting that the Doc will just stay as he is, or if he does turn into someone new it'll all be undone by the end of the ep anyway. I'm kind of hoping I'm wrong since I'm a bit bored of these constant reset buttons, but as you say, Tennant is actually brilliant as the Doc so I wouldn't be upset if they did yet again find a way to keep him on.
I'm not worried for Martha. She's confirmed as being in the Radio 4 Torchwood play with Jack, Gwen and Ianto sometime this summer. She has to survive for the same reason as Sarah Jane and TW3. I AM worried for Rose and Donna. I think there's still an untold price for Rose being able to step across dimensions, and Donna has been hit by anvils most of this series. Then again, they may do what they did last series and kill everyone off only to undo it with another rewind button.
But mainly I'm worried about Torchwood. I want to know how they survive the Dalek. And if they don't (and thus only return due to magic wand waving) I will be supremely pissed, I want my team to shine dammit! ;)

Date: 2008-06-29 04:20 pm (UTC)After that it's the long wait of death (probably 1 year again) at the end of which we can look forward to five days of daily Torchwood before being booted back in hiatus. *twitches*
