So, the DW finale approaches
Jun. 25th, 2008 10:30 pmWARNING: this post will contain SPOILERS for guest-stars in this week's 'The Stolen Earth'. It will NOT contain spoilers as to who are the Big Bads of this series.
I am a shallow, easily pleased soul, I am but a fangirl. So the trailers and preview released this week left me very, very happy.
Firstly, we see the return of two awesome souls - Captain Jack Harkness and Sarah Jane Smith. I've watched and adored both their shows, so of course I'm dead chuffed to have them back:

You can't see it here, but let me assure you that this lady has the most fantastic legs. I want to reach her age and have her figure. And if you're unsure as to whom the young lad is, that would be her adoptive son (Luke) who was grown by aliens intent on conquering Earth. Awww :)

TORCHWOOD! *huggles team* Oh I have missed you. Incidentally, this is them hearing about the Big Bads. This is how Torchwood look when they are abjectly terrified. They is hard. Oh yes ;)
Anyway, I'm particularly happy for Sarah Jane. Unlike Torchwood, the link to Doctor Who was very much present in her show and it was often said that she hoped that, maybe, she would get to see the Doc again. Possibly the actual event would be a happier occasion if it weren't for impending d00m. But fear not! Our heroes respond with the courage and backbone we'd expect from seasoned dealers of the unusual:

Admittedly, after Exit Wounds you'd forgive Jack for feeling a little fragile...

Actually I can't mock this one. A mother who at that moment believes the end is nigh and her only thought is grief that her son is too young for this to be happening. *sniffle*
Moving on! How does Torchwood deal with Teh End of the World? Well we are talking about Jack so...

... kiss the girl...

... and kiss the boy.
*happy sigh* Torchwood is all about equal opportunity. And then because he obviously nailed the Motivational Speech course, Jack cuddles his team close (*basks in LB's Bubble of Love*) and apologises that there's nothing he can do and they are all going go die.

Thanks, Jack.

Still! I have hope! For one thing we have The Doctor *hands* We also have Martha and UNIT. More importantly, we have DONNA F**KING NOBLE!! Oh yes, five foot something of red-headed awesomeness - I am relying on her to save the day somehow :)
And if that weren't enough we also have:

Pretty exploding things! Pretty Rose!

Ianto reacts to... something. No, I'm not being cryptic, I honestly don't have a clue, it could be the results of Big Brother for all I know.

Gwen is startled by... something. Again, I have nothing to offer other than I am envious of how her hair always looks fantastic.
In any case, due to his absence, I'm guessing/hoping that Gwen and Ianto gave Jack the proverbial kick up the backside, reminded him he has a backbone, told him to bugger off and find his Doctor so said Doc can save mankind while they hold the fort/The Hub.

Oh yes.

Do not mess with Torchwood - they will pull their most ferocious :( face at you.
Have I mentioned I love my show? I love my show =) Roll on Saturday!!

Date: 2008-06-25 10:35 pm (UTC)Oh, that would make the cracktastic fic series ever. Luke can't have been the first 100% human created by aliens who wound up adopting/being adopted by planet Earth - I can see Ianto being retrieved from somewhere and being raised by a master tailor, kind of like Clark Kent except without any particularly useful super!skills :)
Boys and their toys, what can you do...

Also, thanks for doing this without spoiling the whole plotline of the last eps. You're awesome. <3

"Owen: Lets all have sex."
I think Jack was probably teaching the course, and Owen took it.

Date: 2008-06-26 10:01 am (UTC)Poor Ianto. Almost Cyberised, no proper PTSD counselling, girlfriend rage, beaten and almost eaten, loses boyfriend, boyfriend revives and runs off with ex, nearly killed by amateur butchers, dislocated shoulder, boyfriend buried by work (or brother), loses work colleagues...
When is this guy going to get a break?!

Date: 2008-06-26 03:54 pm (UTC)Erm, basically Donna Noble is awesome. She's the first companion to not be crushing after the Doc at all, and as a result they really are just the best of mates and very good for each other. She's got family in London - her mother who is constantly disappointed in her, and her grandfather who knows about her travelling with the Doctor and is generally lovely and supportive.
Martha popped up briefly - she's now working with UNIT and is engaged (to that Doc Tom Milligan). The Doctor wasn't impressed with how military UNIT now is, but Martha says she's there because she's hoping to change it for the better from the inside.
Rose has appeared on-and-off, mainly on TV screens where you can see her silently calling 'DOCTOR!' except no-one is ever looking. Last ep Donna was put into an AU where she never met the Doctor (and he consequently died) and Rose turned up as her guide. Rose didn't give her name, but explained that 'a darkness' was coming that was affecting all realities, hence her apparently slipping between universes. Rose gave Donna a final message for the Doctor (Bad Wolf) and when this was relayed to the Doctor, it made all the writing everywhere say 'Bad Wolf' and he pronounced it meant the end of the universe.
Final note - a couple of eps ago we met a lady called Professor River Song. It was a case of crossed-timelines - she was obviously from the Doctor's future and knew him very well (she knew his real name), and was a bit upset when she realised that he had yet to even meet her. In the event she died, but not before going 'Oh, you're Donna Noble!' when she met her. The look she gave Donna was not a comforting one and she didn't answer when Donna demanded to know where she (Donna) was in the Doctor's future. Possible anvil there...

Amen.
Do not mess with Torchwood - they will pull their most ferocious :( face at you.
Damn right.

Date: 2008-06-26 04:02 pm (UTC)Yes, I do like my Bubble of Love - all is lovely and shiny here, and I loves my TW team for being shamelessly devoted to each other :)
Ah Torchwood. They've faced down a Cyberwoman (with BBQ sauce and a pteradactyl), they've faced down a giant soul-sucking beastie (after freeing it themselves), and they've even survived crashing a wedding. I have faith that they will easily face-down whatever DW throws at them this Saturday!
