Yes, I have come to an important decision, or rather I think I'm nearly there. I know you are all breathless with anticipation, but I think I can begin to pinpoint my favourite gladiators from the new series.
For the men:
* Spartan - he may be a pretty boy in a skirt, but he pulverised his opponents in the first ep, and then in the third he was just such a gent when he was put up against an injured one. He was obviously being so careful yet still letting the guy play a good game, and bless him for gratuitously talking up the guy afterwards. Competent and a good sportsman, LB approves.
* Atlas / Predator - Atlas may not as impressive as he could be in terms of annihilating the opposition, but again he's just so gracious when he does win that I'm willing to forgive him. Anyway, he and Predator are always smiling, and it turns out I'm a sucker for a smile.
* Destroyer - competent and lives up to his name in terms of attitude. And when he does verbally smack the opponents down, he does so fairly with frankly valid points.
For the women:
* Battleaxe - she has a nice smile, she's bloody good, and she can groove well when she wins.
* Ice / Panther - both really quite good at their jobs in terms of keeping the opponents down and being comfortable with their gladiator persona. They've both got the killer stare down pat.
Unimpressed with:
* Oblivion - he has a potentially fun attitude, but without the noticeable winning streak to go with it, I'm bored.
Impressed but not moved by:
* Tornado - he flew on those rings, he really did, the navy can be proud, but he hasn't got that magical 'something' just yet.

Date: 2008-05-27 11:14 pm (UTC)I'm still loving Spartan, he just gets better each week :) Definitly a bit-of-a crush situation going on! And I *still* fancy the pants off Oblivion (he's only 21 in real life, I feel like a dirty old man!), but you're right, his cockiness needs some hard evidence to make it worthwhile.
Battleaxe is good, but her voice just confounds me. I'm not that impressed with Ice, Inferno or Tempest - none of them have the finesse of Gladiators like Jet, Panther, Vogue... That's my opinion, anyway :) And I'm LOVING Enigma and Panther, they get the job done and they have a great attitude about it all.
This new series is slowly winning me over :)
Oh, and just to make this comment even longer, have you seen who they're bringing back for the "Gladiators Legends" special (old Glads vs. new Glads)? Ace, Cobra, Jet, Vogue, Zodiac, Trojan, Wolf, Hunter, Rhino, Scorpio! Although I'm puzzled why it's 6 men and 4 women...

Date: 2008-05-27 11:32 pm (UTC)Spartan is the dude. I'm slowing falling for him in non-crushy sense, as you say, every week he does something that makes me cheer for him. And after this week (Gavin! *sob*) he's pretty much won me over.
Pah. I feel I should say something about Tempest, but given she's only 19 and therefore the same age as my sister I really can't without feeling like I've just crawed out of the swamp. Oblivions practically ancient in comparison ;) He's still got a few eps to redeem himself, one good solid round and he'll be good entertainment.
I'm waiting on Enigma. This is the first week I've been really impressed with her (honestly, she was awesome on the Gauntlet), if she can back it up next week she can go up there with Ice and Panther.
EEEEEEEE!! Do you know if you can watch that online, or is it another thing only available on Sky?
