"Gladiator! Are you ready!!"
May. 17th, 2008 12:39 am*happy sigh*
You know how it's always a risk going back to childhood memories due to it being rare things will in fact be as shiny and cheesily fun as you remember?
Times like this it's good to know the risk can sometimes be worth it, because sometimes they do get it right and bring it back pretty much good as new.
Yes, thank you
moonlettuce for pointing out YouTube, I am so happily geeked out right now =)

Date: 2008-05-17 12:03 am (UTC)These new Gladiators aren't a pinch on the old faves... Hunter, Jet, Lightning, Cobra, WOLF!!! Did I ever tell you the story about how I met Wolf at the Gladiator quarter finals in 1992 (1993? Whichever was the second year it was on), as my brother's best friend was competing (and he went on to win that year, w00p!)? He played his onscreen persona to the hilt even backstage, but he loved scaring the kiddlies! Of course, I was about 7 so that was the bestest day of my life EVAH!!!!1!!lolz!
Also, they did a 90-minute documentary about the old Gladiators last Sunday arvo, and WOW some of those Gladiators have not aged well. I'm looking at you, Hunter. Ace, on the other hand... woof. Why don't I remember him from the show (and therefore in scantily-clad lycra?!)

Date: 2008-05-17 12:37 am (UTC)WOLF!! I remember how everyone loved to hate him, but I also remember how he was utterly happily to shamelessly send himself up for Comic Relief. Every show needs a Wolf equivalent :)
Though, yeah, I saw a bit of them interviewing the originals, and ouch, some of them have aged badly, and others have aged badly because they've obviously tried not to age.
Is the new series showing at all on the free channels, or is it solely for Sky at the mo?
