Farewell my liver
May. 15th, 2008 11:04 pmI'm so tired I could cry. Work packed me off to Edinburgh from Sunday-late last night, which was actually brilliant fun if utterly exhausting and internet-less. Although at one point we did wind up in a club being serenaded by a man in a skin-tight green suit and an Elvis wig.
I'm wishing luck to those on the FL who are knuckling down to the SPN finale tonight (though my sympathies are slightly lessened due to you guys having it already confirmed that your show will be returned *pokes TW*) Still, good luck chaps! That said, contemplating TWporn fanfic did help the more tedious lectures pass quicker. Plus even if it's still in limbo, the fandom is still making me smile.
x. Highlights from GDL's interview in the latest issue of the TW magazine. Always great to hear actors give their take on the characters. And the cover of the mag ain't half bad either *cough*here*cough*
x. The released synopses of the latest TW books.
- #7: Pack Animals - has a killer pic of Gwen on its front cover
- #8: SkyPoint - Tosh! Written by Phil Ford! *geeks*
- #9: Almost Perfect - Ianto gets turned into a woman. No I am not kidding. Oh fandom.
I am also getting increasingly excited about the new Indy film after watching posters go by on buses all weekend. In that spirit, have the theme-tune.
John Williams - Indiana Jones Theme Tune (Raiders of the Lost Ark March) (MP3, 8.45MB)
And finally, I finally got to see the latest ep of Doctor Who. My main impression was: ANVIL!! ANVIL FALLING FROM THE SKY!!!
Much as I love her, I was mildly disappointed by Martha. I wanted her to be there with the Doc and Donna, not just getting in trouble (again) and striking out on her own. I'm not entirely sure what the point of her being there was in this ep. That aside, I did love how Donna continues to not let Ten get away with anything, but also backs off the moment she realises she's touched a real nerve. And I adore how she actually gets the Doctor to start talking as a result. Oh Donna. You rule. You are wonderful.
You want to travel with the Doctor forever.
You are doomed.
*sigh* I'm not spoiled, but considering how Rose's declaration of never leaving went, I'm guessing RTD and co are well aware of the potential anvils they are launching at Ms Noble right now.
As for the daughter herself... I liked her, she seemed pleasant enough. I'm glad she is out there, though equally I'm glad she isn't just planning on running after 'Dad' but is happy (for now?) to just go out there and do her own thing. It's a nice open ending should anyone want to take up that potential storyline again.
ETA: just in case, SPN SPOILERS for the latter half of season 2 in comments.

Date: 2008-05-15 11:34 pm (UTC)I'm so over SPN right now I hadn't even realised tonight was the finale. Last week's episode killed off my favourite character (Posh Bela! Nooooo!), and while it was an incredibly moving episode - and a well-acted final scene - it was ruined by the fact that all across the internets everyone was like "THANK GOD FOR THAT! I speak for the whole of the fandom when I say WE HATED BELA SO THANKS FOR KILLING HER IN ONE OF THE MOST VICIOUS WAYS POSSIBLE." Like, back the frak off fandom and let me have my own opinion!
Ahem.
Sorry. Got carried away there!
Has TW not been confirmed for season three? Bummer, I just assumed it was. After the wonderfully heart-wrenching finale I know they have it in them to really knock it out of the park so I'm onboard :)

Date: 2008-05-15 11:51 pm (UTC)They killed Bela?! NOOOOOO!!! I liked her! Well, I liked her in all of the, what, two eps? that I saw. It was just nice having a female character who wasn't just a potential romantic interest but actually trying to be a foil for the two leads. Mew.
*offers you consolatory drink*
Nope, nothing official. Everyone keeps saying it's 99% sure to get the green-light and that if/when it does come back it will be 'very different', but that aside, nothing is being confirmed officially. I'm kind of glad about the 'different' just because it can't just try to continue like nothing's happened (Owen. TOSH! *sob*), but I'm also rather anxious about just what 'different' means. Ah well, we'll see...

Date: 2008-05-15 11:58 pm (UTC)I enjoyed the fact that she didn't kowtow to the boys, seems that the fans aren't happy unless every character on the goddamn show is blowing smoke up the Winchesters' asses. Anyhoo, I've decided to cut and run after the season finale (when I eventually watch it, anyway). More than enough quality scifi shows out there with executive producers who aren't total and utter spineless, fandom-whipped dicks.
A different TW... maybe they're ditching the hetero altogether (APART from Gwen and Rhys, who rock and if anything happened to either of them I would seriously consider a strongly-worded letter) and just doing Queer As Folk: 2030 (or something similar). I'd watch!

If they dare lay a finger on Rhys (and Gwen/Rhys) I will be seriously pissed off. I haven't fallen so hard for a het ship since Wes/Lilah and Wash/Zoe *happy sigh* Personally I think orgy/foursome is the way to go, that way no-one gets left out and they can take turns to leave the Hub to go save the world :)

Gwen/Rhys is one of my sole het ships too, I think the others are all on Battlestar Galactica and Home & Away (oh, and Wes/Lilah, Giles/Anya and Xander/Anya on Buffy and Angel) so they have to stay together! For the sake of my sanity!
