Cheering myself up, final spam of the evening

It tickles me that The Rift event in London has now had the small subtitle of 'Unofficial Torchwood Convention' added to its name.

At last count, guests were James Marsters, Eve Myles, Alan Dale (yes that Alan Dale, aka Jim from 'Neighbours'), Gareth David Lloyd, Richard Stokes, Chris Chibnall, James Moran and Cath Treganna.

Tickets include autographs with everyone except for Eve Myles and Alan Dale.

Ooh, and apparently there'll be an artist (Al Davison) on site who will do your portrait in manga/fantasy style should you so wish.

Unofficial Torchwood convention. *poings* Roll on April!

Don't spoil me plot-wise (we haven't seen season 2 here in Australia) but Alan Dale, as "Alan Dale, you might know me from such shows as Neighbours"?

Yep, that's him, he does appear in S2 of Torchwood. And apparently most of the cast called him 'Jim' when they met him :)

I feel slightly bad that I honestly had no idea who this chap was before now, although obviously I have heard of Neighbours. But yes, looking at his CV he's certainly been on some big shows. And apparently all casts tend to react the same, i.e. 'OMG IT'S JIM!!' :)

Nah, I think I'm pretty much the only person about these parts who doesn't know Jim Robinson from Neighbours. I blame my parents *nods sagely*

(It was BP that came on before Neighbours, yes? I remember my son used to come home from creche/Big School, eat his chips -- or a couple of them -- and fall asleep right after BP. Can't recall if I changed the channel or not.)

Previously they only had 2 autographs in the price and I don't mind paying for Eve - they could probably only afford her if they agreed to give the cost of autograph sales to her.

What to get signed? I could get the boxset signed I guess. Or I do have a cast poster signed by all the main cast which I could get the writers and producers to sign as well.

Yep, I don't mind paying for Eve. It'll be great to get the writers autographs as well, though, particularly Moran and Treganna.

My vote goes for large cast photo/small poster if they sell them there. I'd be worried about accidentally rubbing the ink off the boxset every time I took it off the shelf :)

Do you know who's running this event? Is it a JMLive thing or run by the TW people or some other event org?

Well it went up first on Marsters' website so I'm guessing it's run by his folks. He did one before with just him and Gareth David-Lloyd in Cardiff, we assumed this was going to just be a repeat. But then they started adding guests and now it looks like everyone's popping down to join in the fun - which is absolutely fine with me! :)

Saturday 26th April. *pings again* I'm really looking forward to hearing the writers' take on this series. Plus of course we'll have had the finale by then, and if we do get a confirmed third series it'll be brilliant to be able to try and get a clue as to what they might be trying to do next!

I loved something borrowed, the cry of 'STOP THE WEDDING' and the chainsaw and of course Ianto with the wedding dress. I was very very happy by the end credits.

I wouldn't worry too much about the next ep, nothing major character-wise happened though the premise was kinda cool even if I wasn't convinced by the final execution.

That does sound like a lot of fun! I wish I could join you. I bet the Q&A's will be full of people going bonkers asking stuff after the TW finale. :D

And I'm not gonna lie, the anime drawing thing is what I'm most envious about.

Yep, it's only really dawning on me now how mad it's going to be with everyone having had a week or so to ponder the finale. Bring on the insanity! :)

Hehe, I am actually rather tempted to get myself done a la manga. It would look dead nifty up on the wall of family photos!
