It seems Amazon UK is selling the Torchwood: series 1 boxset for £23.

Now, to be brutally honest, whilst I adore my shiny shiny show, so far the first series does kind of pale in comparison to the second. I mean this year's kicked off with "Excuse me. Have you seen a blowfish driving a sports car?" Best opening line ever. Plus of course we've had Owen being the Owen I'd hoped for, Gwen and Rhys stealing my heart utterly with their eps, and unsurprisingly Tosh continuing to be made of win. And I'm not even going to begin going on about Ianto and his new shirts/suits and the subtle way the writers demolished any ambiguity from last series.

Though we did have Countrycide and Ianto in jeans in series one. And Captain Jack Harkness. And Suzie. Plus I think you get Barrowman singing 'Anything Goes' in the extras. Hmm. At least four items I'd be very happy to cherish and call my own. Does that warrant £23. *ponders*

ETA: Have been reminded that the extras also include GDL unashamedly throwing personal dignity to the wind and rapping about tea/coffee. Amazon is processing my order as I type... :)

And a couple of good bits in the out-takes with the scene they didn't use in Cyberwoman and End of Days!

And Gareth rapping! And his scrunchy face when John's hollering behind the camcorder "Hey Gaaaareth! We get to snog again today!"

And, you know, the warm feeling that comes from being a completist!

And I've finally just managed to shave 'Ian's' beard off! We all feel so much better over here in Bannerman Road. Maria's harbouring some slightly naughty thoughts...

I had totally forgotten about the rapping. The unashamed fun of watching a lovely boy having no shame whatsoever. Yep, I think that might have just clinched it.

And WHOOOOT!! Does this also mean he's been put through the shower yet or is he still smelling of fragrant building site? In any case, I can't really blame Maria, Ian did have lovely manners after all *nods*

Yes, for a guy who seems to spend half his time havering over the terrible risk of having actual words coming out of his mouth, he's surprisingly unabashed the other half of the time. You should definitely get the discs - ooh, and the commentaries too! Share the joy of Gareth getting all happy at the thought of head-butting Owen Teale!

Spookily enough, just as I got your reply there, I'd typed:

Yes, he's scrubbed clean from head to toe, he's in jeans, and S-J's realised that she has to revise his age down by yet another decade. Also that he's decidedly good-looking. I'm trying not to make her sound like quite as much of a hideous old perve as I am... still, she's about to go into the bathroom and get her second shock of the morning! And at least tomorrow she gets to have afternoon tea and a giant flirt-off with Captain Shagtastic!

I have to say I am rather fond of the way he can make any sentence double in length due to careful insertion of 'Erm', 'Er,' and 'Ummm.' I was positively disappointed in Adam's Declassified when GDL finally got a bit to say and then refused to hesitate even the once. Though I did forgive him on account of the the small he smile he had as he explained the true motives for crying his wee heart out in the rain. Plus I am pathetically shallow and the phrase 'wet all over' kept me happy.

Oh jeans... *has a moment* Just hide the old perve with concerns about his health and reminding him to eat his fruit and veg, that should do the trick *nods* And I'm looking forward immensely to seeing this afternoon tea, the meeting of former companions is always a blast!

$75? So that's about *tries to compute in head* £37-ish? Oh that's just not fair, we had to fork out £50 when the boxset first came out here. Ah well :)

I did cave and order it, I was reminded that one of the extras is also Gareth David-Lloyd doing some utterly dorkish rap about coffee/tea, a scene that was painfully funny to watch. Boys. Honestly. *pets*

Noooooo! I preordered it back when and got it for £40 ish. And then it took forever and a day to get here :X

Aww - well at least you've been able to relive the old eps and dig through the extras these past months whilst I've just been keeping the ears pricked for any fun reports :)
