Le sigh

So came back to find lamps knocked over and after initially worrying burglers had been, I unearthed a squirrel that had come down the chimney and then gone apeshit in the sitting-room/kitchen when it realised it was trapped.

It's currently hiding behind the cupboards in said kitchen and won't come out. F**ker. I've laid a small trail of nuts to the door to the garden and the door is hooked open. However, having had a squirrel run all over your work surfaces and turf through your fruit bowl, and because I do want the bugger to come out and leave I am left with the problem of

(a) Cannot cook food because cannot go into kitchen.
(b) Cannot eat the left-out, easy to grab fruit because it might have been walked over by mucky paws, and the fridge only has some cheese in it.
(c) The back door is wide open and the skies are clear. Yes the house is now freezing.
(d) LB's scavenged supper is likely to consist of a slice of cold cheese, some custard creams, and some wine to try and take her mind of the fact that she CANNOT GET TO HER REAL FOOD.

On the plus side, wine plus Torchwood is on in T-5 minutes. If it's as fun as last week's I should be in good hands for the tough evening ahead.

The squirrel has been successfully evicted from the house thanks to the aid from some locals lads down the pub. Admittedly the wee blighter was bleeding when it left, but it looks fine and healthy now and it did break some lamps, so my sympathy for it is nil.

Bollocks. On the plus side, at least it wasn't burglars? And you can say tomorrow you had wine and cheese for dinner, and people will go, "OOOOH! HOW SOPHISTICATED!"

Yes, very true, if I could have house-trained it I wonder if it could have been my guard squirrel... :)

BWHAH! I should have tried that. In the end some of the local lads came around with nets and golf clubs and the squirrel was returned to its tree. It was sitting on the lawn this morning looking at me most reproachfully. I would feel more guilty if it hadn't broken some glass on its way out :)
