Christmas went as well as could be hoped. Miraculously the annual family row hasn't yet materialised, or if it has I'm now safely away from it all so I don't really mind. Hah. We watched The Snowman and Father Christmas, as tradition dictates; I watched Doctor Who: The Runaway Bride as nerdom dictates; and I drank my body volume of wine, as Christmas dictates. All in all I did good =)
Also finally caught up with Torchwood. As everyone knows, this ep was written by Noel Clarke, aka Mickey from Doctor Who. I was hopeful as my brother recently watched the film Kidulthood, which Clarke also penned, and was very impressed - a not very common occurrence. And definitely I thought this week was one of the better eps, if only because Clarke has realised, unlike others, that Torchwood works best as a team. Emotionally, yes, Gwen and Owen were at the front. But everyone had their moments, clear roles within the group, and there was even a lovely hint of character continuity. Bliss.
( On a more shallow note: dark suits and grape-eating are love. (SPOILERS, including for preview) )
And of course, I adored the pics from Barroman's civil cermony. Scott looked dashing in his suit, Barrowman wore a kilt *luffs*, Eve Myles and Naoko Mori looked gorgeous as always, Burn Gorman was adorable in a snappy suit and a baby carrier in one hand, and Gareth David-Lloyd was also sweet turning up with a large blue pressie tucked under one arm. I'm sure they all had a fantastic day.
Finally, Fic Rec: 5 Clichés That Shouldn't Have Happened In Any Fandom (But Make Sense With Torchwood) by
keiko_kichi. Grade A crack!fic, includes MPreg, accidental selling of a TW team member into sexual slavery, and of course ALIENS MADE THEM DO IT!
