Here I am, determined to wallow and be unconsolable... and then all those wretched people on LJ have to go and write beautiful posts that actually start making me feel better. Damn you! ;)

Two/three general reading recs, in the unlikely event you haven't already read them. (Spoilers, obviously.)

1) janedavitt: 'Exit, Stage Left.' A post Angel 5.22 fic Short, bittersweet, but leaves you with the last thing to come out of Pandora's box.

2) justhuman: *Another* brief post Angel 5.22 fic. When I first read it, it made me tear up, but in a good way. When I read it again, I remembered janedavitt's fic. And in my mind, these two fics run parallel to each other. Meaning that the sun really does rise on a very, very hopeful new day...

3) butterfly: Analysis of 5.22. It's worth just browsing round her LJ anyway, as there are several posts on the ep, all of them well worth reading. This one made me tear up, and also made me smile. Made me think that actually it really could have been worse.

ETA: Also thought I'd remind people about the virtual AtS Season 6 series that are being written after the summer break.
i) ats_nolimits. Includes people like thebratqueen, wolfling, mpoetess... Need I say more?
ii) 'Angel Renewed' - from the writers who did Angel ReVamped. Basically, over on ASSB, when it looked like we might not get a season 5, a group of writers got together and wrote their own version, picking up where Home ended. It went so well, they went on to also do a Season 6. Both seasons were *very* fun, and there was a killer final arc for season six. This year, they've decided to do the same thing, another Season 6, this time picking off after 'Not Fade Away'. They've just released their first Angel Renewed Ad. (I think you'll need Flash to view this. Spoilers for 5.22.)

Yep, poor Wes looks utterly penitent, and a little tense. You can just tell he needs to loosen up just a little...

Ooh, and btw. If you ever do get weepy again, I can tell you that popping to the archives of Protocol and rereading the erm, *cough*, 'choicest' scenes does have a wonderful way of lifting one's spirits :)

And, yes, definitely. Illyria has grown as a person. She cares about Wes and I'm sure before the wedding night she would mention that little comment he made to her in 'Not Fade Away'. :)

"Over my desk, Wesley. Now."
"Yes, Angel. Erm, desk, Angel? We're in the bedroom."
"Don't be cheeky, Wes."
(penitent Wes stance) "Yes, Angel."
(folds arms over broad chest and looks sternly at Wes, tapping his foot impatiently)
"I'm waiting."
"Oh. Yes. Right. Sorry. My mind was on some mindnumbingly boring research I was doing and I was also mulling over the fact that my father is not very nice to me"
"Mm, you're pretty when you bite your lip because of your deep-rooted father issues."
(blushes an obligingly pretty shade of red and bends over bed in a smutty but somehow incredibly vulnerable manner)

*fades to black*
