Wah - Wa - Wesley! I watched it unfecking spoiled and just Wah!
Oh, forget the Fred I love you stuff. And the turtleneck. And wallow. In Wesley.
I kind of knew they were going to do this. Joss has nearly killed him so many times, it seemed as if he'd come to the end of his nine lives.
I can't really make any sense at this point as I'm lacking two episodes of plot - which will probably be kind of strange to watch now that I've seen the finale.
Just wanted to Wah at you.
And Connor was just - squee!, and Gunn was like - Dude!- almost doing the hand thing with his English.
And the poetry!Spike was brilliant.
And Lorne - wow! Determined but so sickened by it.
And Harmony - eep - she's evil (well duh, facepalms, she's a souless vampire. Guess I kind of forgot that along the way.)
And Angel did good too - the eye contact thing with him and Wes was nicely done.
Oh, yes - Gunn in the rain when Illyria told them Wesley had died. Tears of rain on his face... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
And this is where I came in.
Humour me. My brain appears to have left the building.
I need a hug.

Yeah, I think I always knew that if the series ever came to an end, Wesley would be seriously in risk. If you want an finale to pack an emotional punch, both to the reader and to Angel, then with Cordelia and Doyle gone, Wesley was the obvious choice. He couldn't go before then for the simple reason that I honestly think the show might have been kinda sunk without him, but if the show's not coming back... Handkerchiefs ahoy!
*hugs*
Still, it just seems so very, very harsh. That poor man has done nothing but suffer since the day he was born. He just kept on spiralling down and down and down and down... and then he dies.
**tears up**
My poor, poor, sweet boy...

Date: 2004-05-21 05:03 pm (UTC)No! I won't have that - there was a day, perhaps mid January 2001, when he was not suffering. *g*
I have an empty place in my tummy now. He's gone. I knew he'd be the one to go, but to see it up there on screen... it's just too much.
And to show you how much you all corrupted me - I wanted him and Angel to at least hug. With possibly some naughtly touching...
Oh, LB, I'm making no sense tonight - I'm sorry for coming here to sob at you. But hubby's not being very supportive - his comment was:
"Sure nobody ever really dies in the world of Angel - They can bring him back."
It's the end of the show, I tell him.
"Oh, right. Well, you can still write about him."
*sobs* - how will I be able to write Bond!Wes now!

Date: 2004-05-21 05:11 pm (UTC)Angel/Spike. Yeah, cannon. We know it happened. But it was still kinda fun slashy. So in the final few eps, there were shoutouts.
Angel/Lindsey. Again, a fun, hot, they're-in-denial kind of slashy feel. Hate-hate thing. Something that could be giggled at, joked about. Hence the 'misunderstanding' in the final ep.
Angel/Wes... Nothing to laugh at here. It was serious and everyone damn well knows it. Wes had a crush on Angel in Season 1, and though it changed, he obviously still loved the guy by the end of the series. And Angel did manage to accept him back after Connor and after the events of 'Origin'. So chances are love was both ways. Only they never actually got the right moment to say anything, admit to themselves what was going on.
You can't crack a joke about something as tragic as that.
So Angel/Wes got the serious treatment.
They got to share the famous 'Lingering Look'. A thousand words were spoken, I'm sure of it.
*hugs*
