"Oh my god, the fan fiction."

Woke up today to discover the house still full of the parents and all the spawn. Had a very pleasant breakfast wherein they gave me cards and pressies. It was only small stuff this year as the family have been helping me with Velma's replacement, but even so they rose to occasion magnificently and I am now the proud owner of:

(a) A small action-figure of an assult Dalek (golden, with wheels and a claw!)
(b) Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan - a location near the mother grew up.
(c) A bottle of 2 year Captain Morgan's rum.

It is pretty much a summary of my life thus far, I told them I was very impressed =)

In other news, yes it is official, Dumbledore is gay - for those of you who've read the final book there'll be no surprises when JK confirmed which man was the one to have stolen Dumbledore's heart.

And finally, I may have been caught occasionally humming 'Swing low sweet chariot' - come 20:00 and I'll be discretely crossing my fingers and thinking Come on, England...

*grin* Thank you! It was a lovely day in the end, though I did have to discretely nab the waitress during dinner to ask her if she knew the score. Mew. Would have been nice to have won, but hey, it was miles better than the 36-0 we got last time, so yay :)

Isn't that something. It's pretty clear he had deep deep feelings for that guy and they messed with his mind for the rest of his life. Still, I think it's funny because, of course, the homophobes are going to come out crying foul. They are already are on a couple of news websites. I loved that she mentioned fan fiction, so she must be aware of all the slash out there. Hah hah!

I read the last book and in my mind thought 'well it's highly likely...' but as it was a mainstream kids' book and the point wasn't exactly essential to the overall plot, I was never expecting her to actually go and make it 100% official - but good for her for doing so, it's nice to see she's happy not giving two flying figs about some quarters probably not liking the news.

I didn't actually get to watch the game in the end, woe, I just got to hear the final score. And bless, yes, men are so adorkably lovely when they're concentrating 100% on their sport :)

Aw, man. Lucky you: they showed the game twice here, PLUS highlights. STILL showing it, in case someone was in a vacuum. I think that might have something to do with our defeat by you all four years ago.

Yep -- highlights. This country is far worse than yours for sports mania. So not only do they revel in the defeat of the team that defeated us, they replay the major parts of the whole freaking Cup, so that we might either wallow in misery or rejoice that we made it as far as we did.

Mad as Englishmen in the summer sun, these people are. ;)
