Because I'm useless at decisons - POLL!
Firstly I know next to nothing about computers other than the blue screen is never a good thing. I've been sniffing around the Dell site and given my budget, these are main contenders for the prestigious post of LB's Desktop.

Any other words of advice are always gratefully received =)

I recommend Verbatim's DVD+R format for burnable media. You can get them through Amazon on several sizes of spindle but I try to buy in 50s or 100s as they cost less per disc that way.
If the computer comes with Nero as the DVD burning software, make sure you set it up to verify the data after burning, to make sure it's burned off correctly. It takes longer to verify than it does to burn, but it's well worth the extra wait.
Finally: YAY! new computer!

Yep, I've heard that Verbatim are supposedly the most reliable discs when it comes to burning, sometimes the Sainsbury's near us has them for relatively cheap so I shall definitely snag a bundle when I next see them!
No idea what burning facilities this one comes with, it's either Nero or Roxio, ah well, wait and see, but point taken with regards to data verification.
And yes! A computer all my own! I shall love it and give it its vaccinations and immunisations and call it Sultana =)
