Rec me a PC!

lonelybritAlong with having to move down south for the new job, I have to finally look into getting myself my own desktop PC. At the moment I'm looking at Dell simply because the mother got her computer from there and it isn't completely pants and frankly I'm not too impressed by PC World.
Still. Can anyone rec me or give me a warning off any particular companies as being good/bad for desktops? Any general advice on what I should be wary of or looking for?
