There's been confirmation of another actor who will guest star in Season 2 of Torchwood.

I have to admit my immediate reaction upon reading was "Oh god no." Which actually surprised me since I do think James Marsters is a very decent actor. The problem is that the two times I've been in proximity to him (at Collectormania and one of his gigs) I was utterly disgusted by the poodles that surround the guy. Which isn't his fault. But now I think JM, I think poodles, which equals "Urgh." An unfortunate association but one I've yet to deprogramme.

Ah well, I'll wait and see, I am curious to see what kind of role they'll give him.

*rereads* I do seem to be full of sour grapes today. Apologies, I promise to keep on my LJ and not bring it over to yours.

I'm so over JM that it's not even funny but kinda curious to see him on TW now. Hopefully not with his "North London" accent!

See I just think that he's a crappy actor.

But Giles is awesome! I'm not sure about Spike, to be honest. :(

*snort!* That's going to be interesting. I was always more a Spike fan than a JM fan, so I'm 'meh' about the whole thing.

But, we've had Tony Head on DW, now James on TW, so when is Alexis going to be on one or the other?!?

Yeah. I ... ummm, well, you can see my first reaction here. *blushes*

Am over the hissy fit now. More or less.

Totally with you, except that I think JM is essentially a one-trick pony with a very tedious wee trick. Plus the most nauseatingly colossally rabid fen, uggghh!

That's the third bit of TW news I've come back to today that's filled me with gloom. Maybe it's post-holiday blues?

That interview, yeah... and quotes from some of the Australia-related stuff around, in particular one that's probably a million years old, but it was RTD comments about how much he prefers an unhappy to a happy ending in love, that no two people ever loved without it ending in the death of one of them, that the unrequited love in QAF was the best bit of it and so on.

Plus Utopia, which was great entertainment and full of canon-exposition fun, but I think pretty much blew a hole through any prospect of our ship ever coming home safe and well. Sorry. It's just that each little new bit of info seems to be another thumbs-down for what I want to have happen next year, what I'd like even if it is a bit unlikely - and nothing that's come out so far has ever been a thumbs-up. I read someone today referring to the Jack / Ianto thing in s1 being maybe nothing more than a red herring / false trail, and my heart hit my boots but it does have that feeling of being more and more likely.

And now that I've sploodged gloom all over your blog, I'll... um, go back to the corner!

Yes, I - actually, I'm sitting here sighing mournfully. It seems a strange fate that we're seeing the best case scenario being one where Jack and Ianto get ten seconds to acknowledge some kind of dignified, bittersweet 'the stars were against us' mutual regret, before they move irrevocably apart. I want more, damn it!

As for Jack coming back full of, erm, beans - I can see that only too well. But I'd have thought Ianto would react with unadulterated horror at the thought of being just another prop in the infinite line of warm willing creatures Jack can't wait to stick his new-found joie de vivre into. I reckon he'd have put up with the suspicion that he really was just the part-time shag - as ling as he was *THE* part-time shag, not one from the many. Wouldn't that drive too huge a dent through his sense of self-justification, of being needed and better than the rest? If Jack comes back revving to spread himself far and wide, Ianto will run a mile.

Or maybe I just hope he'll run a mile, because the idea of him being that desperate for any old crumbs from Jack's Banquet O'Leurve is just too depressing for me to encompass right now.

Hello, Russell T? Have you seen Alexis Denisof? Do you not realize he'd be perfect for DW or TW or just anything?

I'm sort of glad I'm not watching Torchwood now.

Plus, has already played the romantic partner of JB! Proven chemistry, from the reviews I read of that particular performance! It would rule!

It did produce some lovely RPS though. Ah, Collectormania, you were responsible for my fall into the handbasket of hell.

Oh, ASH watching AD and JB re-enacting the first scene from Rope. *sighs*

I remember slash. I used to write that, didn't I?

Don't know why the thought of JM's fans should bother you one way or the other. They're not going to be in the show, are they.

Well, I highly doubt they're going to be much of a presence in the Torchwood fandom. It's just a guest appearance.

One episode.

Hmmm....my reaction was kind of similar although it was simultaneous YAY and nay..but we JM can act so I'm looking forward to it and also think of it this way, if the BBC is forking out for JM to come over and do a role that means they probably have biggish plans for TW, which can only be good :P
