Had a nice day of lounging in the morning, then popping out to the gym and helping with the weekly family shop. Rounding it all off by spending the evening with the mates to catch Doctor Who and the penultimate episode of Any Dream Will Do.

Doctor Who? Dude. To be honest, I was expecting to be in tears by the end, but I wasn't though I did feel a wee bit choked up at points. Martha continues to be made of pure utter win. No. Seriously. Rock on, Martha, rock on. And the ending left me... well. I wasn't in tears, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

I have to say, this is the first time the Doctor, or to be specific Ten, has genuinely chilled me. We've seen him killing aliens before and we've seen him lose his rag. But never quite like this. Normally when he's killed/punished aliens, they've been on the attack, it's almost been self-defence. But seeing him emotionessly and methodically comdemning The Family to a eternity of confinement/torture... *shivers* Haven't really felt that in awe and afraid of the Doctor since Nine vowed to wipe every last Dalek out of the sky. This is very very good. The Doctor should not be all fuzziness and cuddles.

Whilst on paper I can see and feel for John Smith, on the other I never really connected to him as a character. I found him amusing, but in my mind it was always 'Ah, look at the Doctor being a silly human'. I can imagine this would work a lot better in a book where I could have been left in the dark as to Smith's real identity for a little while. But again, this is nit-picking. Even if I wasn't weeping, I did feel so very much for Smith realising what he had to give up.

Matron? She's a product of her time but even so I was so pleased to see her put in her place by Martha regarding the whole Doctor/colour statement. She could have been quite an unsympathetic character, however the actress nailed the role and again had me feeling for her as she realised that what she wanted was becoming immaterial in comparison to what would happen if the Doctor wasn't returned.

Martha. So much love. Handling The Family. Getting caught up in the situation and declaring her love for the Doctor and rounding it all off with 'And God I hope he doesn't remember me saying this.' She'll never get the Doctor in love with her, but I hope before the end she'll realise that he does genuinely care and be content with that.

The ending with the recitation of 'They shall not grow old...' I almost did cry then. Just the thought that you could live through two world wars, see such things, see so many people die, and then look up to see the two who signalled the start of it all not looking a day older. *sniffle*

And now it's only one more ep and then we're on to Utopia *bounce*

As for Any Dream Will Do. Less camp than last week sadly, I think all the lads were suffering a bit from nerves. Whilst I didn't really want to see any of them go this week, I can't feel too bad for the ones who will. They've made it to the last four. When I last heard, four of the final five girls from Maria were all on the West End stage. By this point in the competition, none of these boys will truly be going home. No surprise that Keith and Lee went through - they should. I can't help but root for Lewis a bit. He's the same age as the spawn and seems a nice enough lad and takes the criticisms of the panel so very well. If someone will guide him a bit, he'll be going places, but I don't think he's ready for Joseph just yet. Still, I'm glad he gets the confidence boost of going through to next week.

Ben? Actually I thought he outshone Keith in their duet, simply due to stage presence. Yes he was vocally weaker, but on stage he was the one you looked at, and to be honest he probably has the charisma to make you overlook/forget the odd dud note. He's also, probably, one of the best actors of the group. Sad to see him go, but I can see why, and again he is so not going home - someone will snap him up for something soon.
