Recs please!

A friend's birthday has rolled around and what with her being an ardent slasher, I'm trying to think of some decent books/DVDs that she might enjoy.

Bookwise: The Low Road was great fun, though she also enjoyed Rainbow Boys and the Regeneration trilogy.

DVD-wise: Although she has seen Latter Days, My Beautiful Launderette, Sugar and Swan Lake, her favourite film of them all is still Lilies. Can't say I blame her - gorgeous film *sniffle*

In any case, my initial plan would be to get her one item of shameless smut, and second item with maybe a little bit more plot *ahem. Anyone have any recommendations they can share?

In DVDs there's Proteus or Yossi & Jagger for romance with depth, The Fluffer for smut- or really daring is the unrated version of Bruce Labruce's Raspberry Reich. For a book, I loved MJ Pearson's The Price of Temptation, a gay version of the Regency romance that's a lot of fun, or Gaywyck by Vincent Virga which has a bit more depth and possibly even more sex. :)

Velvet Goldmine is gloriously camp and slashy - Ewan McGregor, Christina Bale, Eddie Izzard, Jonathan Rhys Meyers. It's about glam rock so there's some wonderful music in there too. And some very pretty boy-kissing. :D
