Just finished watching A Taste of My Life, wherein Nigel Slater shows us half an hour of his time with John Barrowman reminiscing about childhood and childhood dishes.

Honestly, if I was still at school right now my schoolbook would be covered in doodled JBs with many little hearts drawn all around them. ♥♥♥

It is most definitely the most personal interview I've watched so far, for starters not once is it mentioned that John is gay. He talks about how he was bullied for his Scottish accent as a kid (and incidentally the pics of baby!Barrowman are the cutest things ever!), his nephew gently mocks him and his Captain Jack action figure, his Mum and Dad tell him they love him, as does his big sis who also says how you can can rely on John to always be there - by which unsurprisingly John has something in his eye.

Of course, John Barrowman is John Barrowman and of course he does manage to slip a little into his sly humour for the last five minutes as he and Nigel make a moist carrot cake. But, honestly? Lovely lovely interview.

*petpet* It was on 13th March, BBC 2. I'm not sure if the series is still running, if in future I spy Mr Slater heading for my TV screen I shall remember to send up urgent smoke signals for you :)
