God bless the Radio Times
Apr. 9th, 2007 02:38 pmOne of the many benefits of a stay with the grandparents is that I get to browse through this week's Radio Times and pick up lots of nicely useless but entertaining trivia about up and coming TV.
So, for example, I know that Richard Armitage wasn't too sure how to ride his period motorbike in George Gently, and consequently filmed all his scenes tearing around the countryside in 1st gear only. He also had a mild panic attack when he realised he was supposed to have a northern accent, but he was filming The Vicar of Dibley at the time and bumped into a driver from Durham. So he simply cornered the guy and got him to record his lines onto a tape recorder for him. Bless *pets*
There were also brief and as close to unspoilery as possible episode summaries for all the eps of this season's Doctor Who. Of course Utopia's summary caught my eye, this being the ep where Jack returns. Apparently his return to the TARDIS is unlike any other companion's, and also the TARDIS hurtles out of control and lands its three passengers on some distant alien world.
Now, I like Jack. I love Jack on Doctor Who and I can't wait for him and Ten to finally meet. BUT, I am also rather fond of the Torchwood crew. This is purely speculation, and I'm sure I'll probably be proven wrong, but I am happy to hear the phrase 'out of control' when it comes to the TARDIS leaving Cardiff. Simply because whilst I can utterly see Jack going off with the Doc for a while, I did think it a bit harsh on his crew that he didn't leave them not even a note to reassure them that he was in fact okay. So my guess/hope is that the TARDIS beetles off to where-ever before he can pop his head back round the door to holler 'Back in a few days!', and it's surprising how much better this potential scenario leaves me.

Gweyn "Don't worry, captain
scarletjack is immortal, he'll be back when he's back"Owen "Ah, okay then"
Of course I didn't manage to catch the last few episodes of season 1 of torchwood so this could be built around false premises.
