Where are the f**king roadsigns?!
Oct. 8th, 2006 04:55 pmI'll post properly later, but in a nutshell I've just returned from a fab weekend with
eloise_bright and
princess_s, also meeting the lovely
bcassie and
alexis_fan. The short synopsis of things:
- Random spotting of Gary Barlow. This was, of course, the highlight of the entire weekend.
- Saw the play All My Sons... Oh, so so brilliant. Angst and heartache and shocks and... *flails* The cast, all of them, were just superb. The father (Michael Byrne) broke my heart.
- Saw Alexis Denisof. Saw Alexis Denisof at the beginning of Act 2 in white vest top. Hello biceps and shoulders *sigh*
- Met Michael Byrne at stage door - aside from blowing our minds with the play, he was also the cool evil Nazi dude in Indiana Jone and the Last Crusade who goes over the cliff in a tank. The general geeking out began here.
- MET ALEXIS DENISOF ZOMG AND SAID HELLO AND BRAIN MELTED BUT I THINK WE GOT A PICTURE (Photos will have to wait as I need to use the rest of the film up. Yes, a real film, not one of these digital contraptions *zpit*)
- LB discovered that she can cope happily with about 1/2 hour of Supernatural squee, nay, even participate, before her brain wanders and she's back on pondering the beauties of Bob and the Bird etc.
-
eloise_bright discovered that a year's worth of repressed Supernatural squee will take about seven hours and two bottles of wine to even begin scratching the surface. - Mpreg fics are worth their weight in gold, especially when it involves Sam and Dean and their happy home with a red quilt with a motorcycle on it. Alcohol consumption only increases such fic's value, and can also induce more crack!Fic involving a John Mpreg (maybe with Jim) or a Bob Mpreg (involving an archangel).
- Liverpool suffers from a severe lack of road signs, and taxi drivers have no road sense. Recommend a streetmap or a valium, whichever is closest to hand.

Date: 2006-10-08 05:36 pm (UTC)Eeeee! I read this play for the first time yesterday and I think I know the scene you're talking about. I kept imagining Alexis in the role as I read it and it was pretty awesome in my head. I can't imagine how wonderful it really was in person! Eeeeeeee!!!

Date: 2006-10-09 11:46 am (UTC)Of course, Alexis was just wonderful. I can see why he liked this character so much, in some ways Chris was a wee bit like Wes. At first glance quite innocent and niaive and idealistic... only also kind of not. Good stuff.

Date: 2006-10-08 06:51 pm (UTC)Sorry! Squees madly with you about Alexis. Tell us more! What was he wearing? What did he say? Wasn't the play just brilliant?

Date: 2006-10-09 11:50 am (UTC)Oh he was wonderful, the play was wonderful, I was so many times almost in tears, oh my heart... *clutches chest*
I think he was wearing jeans and that kind of light grey coat jacket-y thing. And the glasses. Oh man, the glasses were back *happy sigh* He was looking quite shy since he was by himself, mainly just repeating 'Oh thank you, thank you so much for coming' and generally just felling us all with that lovely smile. My main moment is that I spotted him first *preens*

Date: 2006-10-08 07:17 pm (UTC)How did you meet him? Did he come out of the stage door after the play?
Squeeeeeeeeeees remembering him from 2 weeks ago.

Date: 2006-10-09 11:52 am (UTC)We passed him heading towards the stage door as we were heading off to hit the bar, and then we properly lynched him when he came out the stage door afterwards. Oh he was sooo lovely! So polite and so sweet and worried that pictures hadn't been taken properly and asking us if we wanted autographs personalised etc etc.... *mibbles*
Oh, and he can still pull off being unbelievably sweet about his wife and seeming still ridiculously in love *pets him*

Date: 2006-10-08 10:03 pm (UTC)I'm dying all over again. Rip my heart out of my chest, Kripke.
Ahem. Sorry about the squee. I think I might have broken LB's brain.
The arms. The biceps. The glasses. The shirtlessnessness of him. The crappest stalkers ever. The whole bloody weekend was fanbloodytastic.
I'm squeeing still. Poor hubby got a blow by blow account of the play.
I love you both!

Date: 2006-10-09 11:56 am (UTC)Yeah, we do kind of suck as stalkers, but never mind, twice in about two years, I think we're doing all right in the long run!
*hugs you*

Date: 2006-10-09 08:11 pm (UTC)Ahem, again. We are very poor in our stalkerishness. Far too British to do it properly.
Go watch the brothers unravelling...

Date: 2006-10-09 11:58 am (UTC)Admittedly it was the last 'happy' moment for about an hour or so as the play then proceeded to tear our hearts out, stamp on them, shred them and then burn the whole lot to ashes, but hey :)
