Superman Returns
Aug. 1st, 2006 11:16 pmSo we've just returned from that very very long film.
Going in, the big question was: Was Superman Returns worth Bryan Singer ditching X-Men 3.
Answer: Er, if it had been a bit shorter, definitely. Though it's still good, and boy was it fun to hear that old theme tune blasting out with pretty graphics as the opening credits rolled. I'd give it a solid 3 out of 5. I would give it 4, but at over 2.5 hours my arse was starting to go numb.
Lois Lane annoyed me, as most comic book lasses seem to do. Clark Kent/Superman was fine, and particularly in his Kent guise so very similar to Christopher Reeve *nostalgic sigh* The kid was actually genuinely sweet. There wasn't enough Lex Luthor, though what we got was great. But of course my heart was stolen by Richard White - Lois's sweet fiance.
So, yes, if anyone can hook me up with Richard/Clark(Superman) fic, feel free, because, especially in one scene, those two made my heart flutter just a wee bit :)

Part of me would like to see the movie again, because it really isn't bad. But it was very long, and no matter how good a movie is, you do start to feel it after two plus hours, LOL!

Date: 2006-08-02 03:51 pm (UTC)I think my problem was that it was trying to be a quite serious film, complete with subtle messages throughout you had to think about to understand. I went in expecting a bit of that, but mostly lots of fun and flying and Lex camping it up something chronic. The music put me in the mood for a blockbuster action romp. Ah well. *pets you* Did you at least have popcorn to nibble on for the two hours?
