What a night
Jul. 8th, 2006 10:36 pmI'm glad Germany won that match, they deserved it. Hopefully tomorrow France will likewise have a good game.
Films seen: Over The Hedge. Really really good, solid 4 out of 5. I never stopped grinning and giggling, and the final scene where the 'hero' saves the day had us all in stitches. Though I think I was the only one to get and laugh at the 'Rosebud!' reference.
Also seen, Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest. I'd give it 3 or 4 out of 5. More dark than the previous one, and very long, but still very fun. Certainly made up for the disappointment of X3. I do have a soft spot for Norrington, so I was sad to see him being given the role of arsehole. Still, he did get to take part in frankly awesome swordfighting so I didn't overly mind. I live in denial and am sure he will refind his conscience in the next film and at the last moment return to being noble and selfless, yes *nods*
Oh, and the final five seconds made me squee. No idea how Barbossa is back, but I am so so glad to see him. Loved the touch of him finally tasting and enjoying those apples :)
I am not thinking too much about the bands playing today and tomorrow up in Scotland's T In The Park festival. Just... *sigh* Oh to be there, really.
And then of course, there was the finale of Doctor Who. Bloody great episode. I went from laughing and giggling to nursing a broken heart to going 'WHAT?!' and getting impatient for the Christmas episode.
First off, oh how I adored the Darleks and the Cybermen bitching at each other. 'Daleks do not bother with eleagance.' 'That. is. obvious.' HAH! And the 'This is not war. This is pest control.' Loved it!
I began to get teary when Jackie met Pete and he finally ran and hugged her. *sniffle*
I can't remember what the Torchwood lady was called, but I've decided I liked her. In particular I wanted to cheer when she appeared at the top of the stairs. Loved that her loyalty was that strong it survived the trauma of being 'upgraded'.
I do feel bad for Rose. I had hoped at least she would get to meet up later with Sarah-Jane, but now she doesn't even really get that. But the real heartbreaking moment was when we saw the true effect her departure had had on the Doctor. The way he was in tears but just bowed his head and made himself move on... oh I so wanted to hug him.
Christmas is too far off. It really is. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Date: 2006-07-08 10:11 pm (UTC)Doctor Who... oh how can I begin to count the ways I loved that ep. The Daleks and the Cybermen, oh, priceless. And the poor Doctor. I wanted to hug him when we saw him in tears in the Tardis. Hats off to Tennent, brilliant job. *weeps*
In the meantime, yes, I think first class 'comforting' of the poor Doctor is in order. The queue starts here.... ;)

Date: 2006-07-08 10:15 pm (UTC)Kate wailed like a baby throughout the final 15 minutes of the ep, and the whole of DW confidential. So did her mum, though...
Even though I knew I was being heavily manipulated into tears, I didn't care. I just sobbed my heart out. Even though I've hated every moment of this almost ship of Ten/Rose, I still wailed when I realized they'd never get to see each other again. So sad for them all.
I'm sort of in love with Pete. Not sure why, but he made me all hot and bothered. hmm.
Seeing Chris Eccleston again in the bits from Confidential made me howl more. I love DT, he's cute and funny and all that, but CE WAS the doctor. He owned the role the way Tom Baker did. There are moments when DT approaches ownership of the role, but he doesn't yet own it. (but he's sexy as hell)
Plus, how did I miss his "Fingers on lips!" bit in Fear Her???? That's my line! I say that DAILY in school. RTD is so my fanboy.
I'll shut up now.
*huggles you*

Date: 2006-07-08 10:23 pm (UTC)Yep, I've never been a Ten/Rose shipper, but even so my heart ached for them. No chance of meeting, ever. And poor Rose doesn't even get the chance to take up Sarah-Jane's offer to talk things over one day. *sniffle*
*hugs you back*

Date: 2006-07-09 11:37 am (UTC)Same here! It was a fantastic night! When the game was over, my friends and I decided to walk around Bochum's Bermunda Triangle to celebrate some more. Unsurprisingly, the Triangle's pubs and restaurants were still packed with fans who were still happily singing and partying at 02:45 a.m. to celebrate Germany's 3 -1 victory over Portugal. We even ran into a rather large crowd of Germans singing the national anthem! Who'd have thought third place could ever feel so good? Whoo-hoo! :)
