Jun. 22nd, 2006 03:52 pmSome minor music-related news picked up from the FL:
Ricky Wilson has learnt his lesson after getting hit by a car. Namely never leave a gig early. Awwww.
Maximo Park were at the England vs. Sweden match. Awwww. Maybe they saw Ray Winstone there.
Supernatural last night was all right, I did like their version of vampires. Though I think the high point of the ep was the head vamp's words when he first returned to his nest, that thing about revenge not being everything especially when it winds up getting you killed. Compare that good sense to John Winchester who was quite prepared to try taking out his nemesis knowing full well it would likely be fatal and obviously hadn't actually thought that *maybe* his children would prefer to keep one parent intact whatever the cost.
In general John and Sam irritated me this ep. Do I get where they're coming from? I think so. I'm just not very good at feeling sympathetic. They were both throwing their weight around leaving Dean to try and keep things civil. At least they didn't cry and hug at the end like last time, urgh.
On the plus side, the vamps were very cool and very fun. I did grin like anything when that one turned round to find Dean right behind him. Oh yes :) Dean in general was great this ep. I find it interesting that he's prepared to blindly obey his father in order to save time... until he realises that his Dad is basically prepared to orphan him and Sammy. And then we got that very nice scene where he just puts his foot down and points out the obvious - namely that success is more likely when you have three capable hunters rather than just one.
The less said about a f**king magical gun made under the light of a comet the better.

Date: 2006-06-22 04:32 pm (UTC)Okay, I should probably try and be more coherent than that. I loved the vamps, if anything slightly more than Joss' vamps. All dusty and dirty and so damn cool. John and Sam to me in this ep were much more in character than in Shadows.
In fact, John in this ep seems to be more realistic than the huggy guy we saw in Shadows. For a guy who's been fighting this stuff successfully for twenty odd years, he seems to lack any sort of forward planning ability. And good sense. I love the guy, but he's a bit of an idiot.
And I know we're supposed to focus on John and Sam in this, but all I was seeing was Dean stuck in the middle, getting bitched at by Sammy for sticking up for Dad, then getting bitched at by John because he was pissed off at Sam. The touch-up comment. Love the wee look that Dean gives Sam. He tries to smile it off, but you can see how it hurts.
The magical McGuffin gun. It's pretty to look at. There's that...

And that gun. Pfffft. LOL!
