Resistance is futile

I admitted to myself and the housemates that though normally my interest in football is nil, I will wind up watching the England World Cup matches and probably shouting at the screen. So I lived up to my word, yesterday perched on the sofa with a cup of tea and telling myself 'You know, every year I forget just how much our team suck', as we let a goal advantage slip for the second time.

What amuses me is the number of folks on LJ, including my wee sister, who despite vehement denials that it would ever happen, wound up watching the match with me. Even my housemates, who despise the sport, stuck around for the first half.

Oh, and Michael Owen? Ouch! When they showed a slow-mo close-up of the knee just twisting... *shudder*

But enough of that. The main news is of course the BBC axing Top of the Pops!! *sniffle* Oh, it's the end of an era, how can you have TV without TOTP... *dabs eyes*

Apparently Owen is going to be out for 5 months, so it looks like he'll have to play Walcott at some point. *sigh* And why is it 1-1 is far more stressful than 0-0? Hmm.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. No more TOTP. Not that long after they axed Smash Hits! It's like they're trying to RUIN my childhood memories.

Poor Owen, all three of us winced in unison when he went down, and when they showed the replay it was 'ooooohhh...'.

I KNOW! IS NOTHING SACRED!! Before you know it they'll be axing Blue Peter and having the dog put down *sniff*

I suppose nowadays who the hell knows who's number one, but even so...

It's just *wrong*! At least you could tune in every week and see these pop groups mime along to their own soundtrack, unless of course they didn't realise the track had started and so just sat there like a melon... *sigh* Good times :)
