Clearly someone has told Franz of my Doctor Who/Watcher love; at the last gig Bob turned up in a pin-striped suit. Coincidence, I think not. *happy sigh*

[livejournal.com profile] eloise_bright keeps trying to suck me into SN by waving various scenes between the Winchesters (from eps I haven't yet seen) and pretty pics (which water or not haven't a patch on Franz on a good day) under my nose. But she did make me waver with her latest fic offering. Lovely case of hinting without being explicit when it comes to family ties. Nothing like a good dose of brother angst and denial to pep you up for the day.

Anyway, moving on. I need music advice. We're buying tracks for family over in South America. The songs/bands that have made it huge over there so far are:
The Beatles
Queen.
U2 - With or Without You
Guns 'n Roses - Sweet Child of Mine/Michelle
Avril Lavigne.
Coldplay - in general, but Yellow especially.
Robbie Williams - Angels and everything else.
James Blunt - Beautiful.
Getting an idea of the trend here? Right. So what other bands is it likely they'd enjoy? Keane? Embrace? Snow Patrol? The Corrs? Mr Blobby?

hmm, it seems easy listening/soft rock is the way to go then, Bon Jovi's love song stuff? Like Always?

oh, I just had an idea, what about Will Young? He's somewhere between Robbie Williams and James Blunt....

I don't know, you could ask Ali, I know she likes him, and I think Patrick does too.

Err, Keane do sound like a good choice, although I shudder to the very depths of my soul at giving them any sort of recommendation! How about KT Tunstall? If they like Keane, they would probably enjoy Starsailor as well. Jack Johnson? Everyone likes him :)

It was a case of *facepalms* 'I have so much work to do', LOL!
Hee! I'm so proud of you :)

She does have a couple of slow songs, yeah, so that might be a good choice. And if they like Coldplay, then I think you're right on the mark with Embrace - their last two albums maybe? And what about Snow Patrol too? 'Run' is pretty a much a power ballad they could holler along too!

Well, I don't know about them, but Snow Patrol is one of my current favorite bands :P

And I squee at [livejournal.com profile] eloise_bright's writing SN fic! :D Come over to the darkside with us. It's lovely. And I'd love to see what you might contribute to the fandom. I'm picturing your Sam as being a Franz Ferdinand fan :D And oh, wouldn't that give him and mullet-rock-loving Dean something to banter about ;P

I don't think I could imagine Sam getting Franz

Maybe not. I can imagine him playing it on the radio to irk Dean, though ;P

And now I keep getting this image of Mr Blobby singing "Breathless".

Very disturbing...

*gets out giant dad brother angst hoover thingie with which to suck you into SPN fandom*

And if they quite like Avril Lavigne they might go for Alanis Morissette - Bitter Little Pill. Only because I've been listening to the 10 year anniversary acoustic CD on a loop for a fortnight. *g*

And those brackets don't hide your dissing of the Wet Jen. He of the hot wet bod. *is actually 15 years old*

Observe my icon and tell me it's not hot. I dare you. *g*
