Good morning world
Apr. 14th, 2004 01:45 pmAh, last night was calming. Friend came over and we 'awww'-ed over
theferretgirl's baby ferret pics. Then we crashed at another friend's house, watched Puppet!Angel, drank rum, ate chocolate, and watched 'Touching the Void'.(*Brilliant* film, by the way. Very worth watching.)
Not entirely sure what my outlook on life is at the moment. However, it's either 'putting things into perspective' or 'denial'. Either way, I'm returning my attention to upcoming exams. Ye Gods, two weeks now!
Oh. And I wrote a drabble for
randyfangame. Not sure where it came from, but it might have been my friend's reaction at the end of 'Smile Time.'
Typical.
Even though Angel can smell the blood, Wesley assures him it's nothing. Barely a scratch. He helps dispose of the demon and its acolytes without so much as a wince.
Two days later and Angel starts to smell the sickness, sharp and bitter, catching like sand in his throat. He watches as colour begins to fade, shadows taking hold. Then he pulls rank and soon medical files are scattered over his desk amidst the tatters of so called confidentiality.
Wesley takes it all in his stride and Angel could hate him for being so calm, so accepting. Maybe it shows. Though working flat out, everyone tiptoes round him as if on eggshells. Afraid of being the proverbial last straw perhaps.
Unwelcome deja-vu finds Angel back in the medical wing. The poison has given Wesley's eyes an unnatural brilliance. Clear and crystal, letting Angel see oh so clearly the emptiness that lies in wait. It draws him in, except the kiss that follows does not taste of grief or goodbye. The look he receives feels like they have forever, despite the Doctor only giving them till morning.
The hand under his turns, closes, as Wes gives a wry smile.
"Typical."
*hugs* to everyone. You guys are lovely :)

Date: 2004-04-14 06:20 am (UTC)Love the drabble, hate the "And then?" question. Because by god: If Wes gets killed *again* I'm going to throw a tantrum!
I'm also curious what your friends reaction was for the end of "Smile Time" that brought this drabble on.

Date: 2004-04-14 06:27 am (UTC)I accidentally spoiled her a week or so ago about the ending of 'Hole In The World' and 'Shells'. But she didn't know about the end of 'Smile Time.'
Her reaction as the credits roll: God, Wesley's love life sucks.

It does seem to be that nothing spells certain death, doom, and general suffering for our former Watcher than falling in love :)
*hugs* Thank you!

Date: 2004-04-14 02:30 pm (UTC)Just so lovely. Can not say anything about the intended outcome of this drabble, as that would be in the nature of pot and kettle name calling, and you know I wouldn't stoop to that...
And indeed typical, so very typical of Wes. Really Angel, it's nothing. Just a minor scratch, no I'm not poisoned and dying and about to tell you that I love you with all my heart..
And Smile Time - finally saw it last night - with hubby and 14 year old neice (love her to pieces as she plays with the kids). The three of us were rolling on the sofas in agony. I missed some of it as I was laughing so hard I started to cry. I think hubby sprained something, and neice demanded immediately to see all my vids. I started her on Spin the Bottle, but she is currently on S1 - Five by Five. Am very slowly convincing her that Wes is actually the main character...
Anyway, excellent work - *sending you good revision vibes*

Date: 2004-04-15 09:51 am (UTC)Nope, we're back to Greg and Helen taking it in turns bursting into tears, Eddy wailing over meat, and the big arrival of the week was a popcorn machine.
Oh the excitement.
And yes. I think Wes did pop his clogs. Sorry.
*hugs*
