May. 13th, 2006 09:40 pmIf I ever needed proof that my brain is melting down under exam pressure, I need look no further than the Franz/Potter drabbles found myself producing. *pokes them* Insanity takes many forms...
But breakdowns aside, OOOOOH! Doctor Who!!
A brief, Potter-induced thought: Hey, it's Barty Crouch Junior and Barty Crouch Senior onscreen. I feel the need to rewatch Goblet of Fire and wallow in the twisted loveliness that is Evil!Tennant :)
I find the Cybermen deeply disturbing, and yes, mainly because of the way they are created. That shot of the blades coming down, and the screams, and the Doctor explaining why all emotions are removed. *shudder* I've never seen previous eps so I don't know how much these guys are different to the originals, but as a newcomer I can honestly say they're one of the more nasty villains so far.
Rose. Possibly it's because I haven't seen most of Season 1, but the storyline of Rose's father leaves me a little unmoved. I think it's because her storyline is up against that of Mickey and his Grandmother - Mickey can remember his Gran, I'm not sure a six month old Rose could in the same way.
Speaking of. Oh Mickey. Initially, yes, I did find him a bit annoying, but the moment we met his Grandmother my heart softened. He may have a tendency to whine, but his heart really is in the right place. And his expression in the van with Rickey and co. as they all weapon up - bless, he just looked so overwhelmed. Still, I think he'll come through, we have Ricky as proof of that :)
All in all, very good ep, can't wait till next week!
p.s. Lot of Torchwood references. Heh.

Date: 2006-05-13 05:42 pm (UTC)The cybermen are more slick looking now but they still terrified me all those years ago even though the special effects were pretty naff by today's standards, even for Dr Who. Their origins definitely make them deeply disturbing, knowing they used to be human and what was done to them. Eeek.
David Tennant makes a wonderful doctor, better I think than Christopher Eccleston. He seems more comfortable in the role with its amny facets. When he puts on those glasses I melt. :)
