Mar. 1st, 2006 02:03 am- Supernatural. Yeah, that was all right :) I like it. I thought Jensen Ackles did a fine job, maybe not quite so handrubbing maniacly evilly insane as I would have liked, but considering that this was the first time we actually got a glimpse at what might have made the 'monster' the way he was, that wasn't really needed. The monster also gave hints as to what I suspected from the first ep; that at times Dean did feel a little abandoned by and maybe jealous of l'il brother Sammy disappearing off to college.
Also, Jensen maybe be pretty. But I'm afraid the shirtless scene left me cold, mainly because the half second of 'Oooh, pretty' was quickly wiped out by a prolonged 'EWWWWWW' as the skin, nails and teeth hit the sewer floor. *shudders*
Anyway, the brother angst and love left me a happy camper, even more so than pretty evil!Dean. You had Sam obviously worried sick when he didn't know what the shapeshifter had done with his brother. Plus his whole 'I'm a freak too' speech at the end, and his expression upon seeing the dead shapeshifter. Part of him was clearly relieved the thing was dealt with, but you could tell another part of him was just thinking 'That's a sight I never want to see again'.
And Dean... *sigh* His hating that the shapeshifter sat in and drove his beloved car. Aww. And then at the end, actually apologising to Sam that he can't have his ordinary life. Dean may be jealous at times, but at the end of the day he's a big brother, he wants Sammy well and happy. *squishes them both* - Mean!Sammy! Can't remember the movie, can't remember the actor's actual name. Jared somethingwithlotsofconstanants. But thank you
bouncymonkey for the clip of Superman (Tom Welling) getting faced down by Mean!Sammy. Hilarious and wonderful. I want to see more of this kind of Sammy, he does it so very very well, and is so clearly having a ball. The snark, the pretty smile, the smugness. *sigh* Love it. - The press and slash. More specifically (band) RPS. Ah, it never fails to amuse me how much it baffles them.
lovesbitca posted a link, so I do the same to several fun articles and one audio.
ChartAttack: Franz Ferdinand Don't Mind Being Coupled With Morrissey In Gay Fan Fiction (Nov 2004) - Basically their reaction when faced with the question of fanfic. Have I mentioned I love this band?
NME: Bandslash (Jan 2006)
BBC Radio 1 OneClick Magazine (Feb 2006): Intro (330 KB) ; Part 1 (5.73 MB) ; Part 2 (3.25 MB) - they interview a band, they bring in a London University Professor, they even interview a writer. Which is all fine and good. The part where they attempt to read out some examples of fics is not. Even I have my limits *shudders*
The Observer: Pop idols trade licks (Feb 2006)) - Franz Ferdinand and new pics from Chile. In some ways quite disturbing (God knows what Alex is up to with his trousers these days), in other ways very funny (e.g. Alex taking on a teddy bear... and losing). They also continue to add fuel to the old 'The RPS just writes itself' argument. *dabs eyes* Which can also be read as the 'Aww, they grow up so fast' sentiment.

Date: 2006-03-01 12:57 am (UTC)I actually prefered he didn't do that, that would have been the easy acting choice, but he played it more subtley, and I thought it reinfirced that the shapeshifter was more totatlly f!"£$ up rather than 'all hail our master beelzebub' evil.
I don't see what the big deal about RPS is either, people routinely fantasize about famous people, why is this different? It personally doesn't float my boat, as Im not that into any band and prefer to use the characters for actors as I know the characters better, but I don't see anything wrong with it.

Ah, sounds like they didn't cut this showing. The teeth part (ew!) wasn't in the Sunday night one. And yes, bloody Kripke, teasing us with Dean undressing and then having his skin peel off. Harumph.

Date: 2006-03-01 05:07 am (UTC)What gets me is that it isn't just RPS that's making them scratch their heads. It's the simple fact of same-sex couples. They mentioned Kirk/Spock as an early example. 'But why guy on guy? And why do girls like it so much?' I do want to prod a guy and point out how lots of men like the idea of two girls getting it on, logically there's nothing unusual about it going the other way too.

Date: 2006-03-01 05:11 am (UTC)Oh he so is! *squishes him* It was that little wave and smirk of a smile that clinched it for me. Maybe if we're lucky Sammy'll be the one impersonated next time and Jared can have a ball. Ooh, could you imagine him being all sarcastic and cutting with Dean. *sigh* Ah, the angsty snarky possibilties...
From the sounds of it, the late night eps are the uncut ones. Yay! Though if I never see another skin shed in the entire series, it won't be too soon. *shudders*

*grin* I am rather fond of the icon, it does suit Dean and Sam so well :)
