I've said it before and I'm saying it again, the nice thing about being shallow is that it doesn't take a lot to make you smile. So for today's good news:

• Hugh Laurie was interviewed in this month's Playboy - he reports that Stephen Fry is planning on guesting on House. YAY! And he even mentioned Stephen in his winner's speech for Golden Globes. Awwwww!


• Alex Kapranos is blogging again whilst exploring Australia. I can't tell if it's just the fangirl speaking, but he does seem to be a decent writer, in any case it's an entertaining read. Apparently the only person who sings like Martyn Jacques is Bob. Which would be more helpful if I knew who this person was. ETA: *snerk* I'm not entirely sure how Bob will take that comparison.


• The Fallen *will* be released in the UK as Franz Ferdinand's new single. Date's confirmed as Monday, 13th February. It's a very cool song, and I look forward to hearing it over the radio more frequently.

Aha, that's why you asked :) Good reason! Google tells me that he is singer (or sang with) The Suicide Girls, but my work firewall blocked that site, so don't know anything else........

Alex is a pretty decent writer - have you read his food column in The Guardian? It's on their site I think. There's also an LJ community which lists all his old blog entries from before their website was changed, will try and remember the name of it for you.

*blushes* Oh yes, I would trot around to the Guardian website on a weekly basis to see what food he'd managed to talk up. I still remember his rather darkly humoured write-up of a poor French pigeon getting run over. The description was rather imaginative.

Apparently, Martyn Jacques: 'He spent a lot of years in order to train his characteristic castrato-style voice, while living above a brothel in Soho for seven years.'

Erm, how exactly is Bob supposed to take that comparison? Now I really do want to hear the lad sing, LOL!

Apparently they were initially concerned that Stephen's English accent would cause Laurie some trouble when it came to keeping up with his American one. Aw, bless, LOL!

Oh yes, they do seem such genuine friends; you can tell it would just be a blast for SF to get to have a look around at what HL's up to these days =) Plus, hell, it's been too long since they've had a chance to be onscreen together *nods*
