LOL, well Alex is skinny enough to pull off those trousers. Which seriously do rule =)
Heh. That and I was thinking of the time when I barely knew who Franz were and my friend was trying to convince me to give them a try. She was talking about the V and that Franz/Sisters duet. And explaining the general madness that results when you put someone like Kapranos onstage with Shears.
LB: So, are Franz Ferdinand gay? Friend: No. Jake Shears is, and you got the feeling that really he wishes they were gay. LB: Really? Friend: Really really really wants them to be.
Friend: Really really really wants them to be. Hee! There's an interview from around that time where Jake interviews Franz - have you read it? It's good fun :D
That conversation reminds me of one I had with a friend over Christmas -
Friend: Franz Ferdinand are gay, aren't they? Me: Errr, no. Friend: But they sang that song about a guy called 'Michael'. Me: Still not gay, but they are vastly amused by all the uproar it's caused. Besides, both Paul and Nick are married. Friend: To each other? Me: *clutching tummy on floor laughing*
It does seem to be one of the first things you have to break to folks new to Franz Ferdinand. I think I've had the 'No. No, really.' conversation at least twice with various folks. My favourite tale comes from the same friend, who has yet to convince her own mother that the band are straight.
Friend: No, Mum, really. They're not gay. Mum: Oh come on, they are a gay band. You're just telling yourself that they're gay because you fancy them and are in denial.
