Dear
prettyevilamber gave us such a good quote for the drabble challange over at
randyfangame: 'You learn something new every day.'
Honesty, I look at that and something inside is jumping up and down going 'Yes yes yes! You *know* there are a 101 good drabbles just waiting to be written from that!'
But for some reason, I think I killed my muse off with the latest round of antiparticles. I got nothing. Finally in a moment of despair I decided to write one about an object on my desk. I apologise for the lack on inspiration. I think I should have taken my own advice and gone straight for the alcohol...
Set Season 2 I guess.
Gunn walked in. Blinked. Sighed.
“Oh man, Wes, what are you doing?”
Wesley’s eyes snapped open behind glasses that were steamed up from the delicate china cup held reverentially under his nose.
“Having a cup of tea?” he said meekly, taking a rather belated sip.
“Nuh-uh, that would mean actually drinking the stuff,” said Gunn, pulling up a chair and sitting down. “It wouldn’t mean trying to inhale it like it’s morphine.”
Wesley blushed ever so slightly and Gunn grinned, leaning forward to take a cautious sniff. “Speaking of, what is that stuff? That ain’t your usual Earl Grey.”
The blush deepened.
“Russian caravan.”
“What?”
“A blend of the finest china teas,” Wes continued, rather dreamily. “Used to be transported across Asia… by camel caravan…”
Gunn looked dubiously at the dark liquid. “On a camel?”
“Never been, but I like to imagine it’s what it smells like. Sands, heat, tents in the sun, trekking across the desert…” His eyes started glaze over.
“And you learn something new every day,” said Gunn dryly. “You’re mad, have I told you that?”
Wesley’s eyes re-focussed. “Oh, at least try it first.”
Cordelia walked in. Blinked. Sighed.
“Oh guys. What are you two doing?”

LOL. Yep, it kind of tickled me that tea-sniffing was one of Wes' dark guilty secrets. He used to be such a sweetheart back in Season 2 :)
Thanks!

Date: 2004-04-04 05:34 pm (UTC)Went to Jordon one time and got to ride a camel through part of the Wadi-Rum(sic) desert. It was magical, in the middle of nowhere, and everything feels so lazy. At the end of the ride we all got to sit in this tent and drink these small glasses of hot sweet tea. Been in love with camels and deserts ever since.
Anyway, finally opened the box yesterday. Was rather cautious about what the hell it would taste like. ANd I swear, one sniff and I could almost smell the sugar and the sands again...
I have an overactive imagination, but hey, if a braindead physicist can get carried away, why can't a meticulous Watcher? :)
*hugs* Really glad you like this!

Date: 2004-04-04 06:25 pm (UTC)Ooh, just rewatched Pirates of the Caribbean(sic)! Love Sparrow, and so am so right in the mood for Pirate!Wes. Ah, he'd be lovely. Swords and the sea and the cry of the gulls...
Bring it on :)
Oh, and *loved* the banner! That pic of Mr Warner sent shivers down my spine. You're right. Whenever I think of Pryce Senior (in fic), I'm always thinking of him. It's all in the eyes.

Date: 2004-04-04 06:41 pm (UTC)Shame. ;)
It's just good old-fashioned fun, and Johnny Depp doesn't just steal the show, he *is* the show. Everything else just pales beside him as far as I'm concerned!
And once again I'm trying to figure out ways I can work the word 'Savvy?' into normal everyday conversation. Watch the film and you will see why :)

Date: 2004-04-04 06:57 pm (UTC)Re Johnny Depp, I have this image of him in my head in the Fast Show in the Suits You, Sir sketch. Everything I now watch with him makes me think of that. And I have no idea when I'll get to watch it - I have 'Shadow of a Vampire' on vid to watch, and I have my DVD of S4 to smash against a wall in frustration (dumb computer won't play it). But my hubby heard the swearing and came in and promised to buy a cheap DVD player for me for Easter.
I think I may have said this before, but he is just the best man in the world!

And I'm glad I wasn't the only one, who liked this drabble. Congratulations on your win at the randy fan game.
