Drabble: Playing The Game - Angelus/Wes
Apr. 23rd, 2005 01:30 amI should be tweaking other fic, but I had to have a go at Games, I mean, that's one hell of a prompt :) Also posted at
slashthedrabble. It's set in an AU Season 4 of AtS I think...
The basement was silent; the metal bars cold and untouched in the gloom. They both knew any attempt to breach the cage would be pointless. It had been specifically designed to hold vampires, after all.
“You really think you’re up to playing these cat and mouse games with me, Wes?”
“Considering you’re the one in the cage, I’d say events rather speak for themselves.”
Angelus smiled, unblinking gaze skimming over the edge of his new prison.
“I’ll be out again soon enough.”
“And then what?” Wesley drew closer, his shadow slipping through the bars in a bodiless touch. “You’ll play me, play us, as well as you’ve done this time?”
The sharp white smile cut through the dark as, finally, the thump of feet and murmur of voices began to drift down to them.
“I thought I ‘played you’ very well, Wes, I didn’t hear any complaints.”
“I’m talking about them. I don’t think they’re very happy with you.”
“Yes,” Angelus positively purred with contentment. “Oh, don’t flatter yourself. They were the point of this little move all along, you were just the coup de grâce. Although, you were a very enjoyable one.”
Wesley remained silent, even when Angelus easily stretched one hand through the bars to graze fingertips over cheek and jaw.
“Good old Wes, can always rely on you to make matters worse. Not that I’m complaining. From where I’m standing, you’ve helped enormously.”
A sharp distant sound of a door opening. Wesley instantly drew back, returning to the shadows leading underground.
“Well, you’re out of this game now, Angelus.”
“Is that what you think?” His low laugh filled the darkness as he watched the other vampire slip away. “Oh, dear boy, this one’s only just begun. You and me... we have all the time in the world.”

Game on, lads!
