Somehow I've inhaled a good few movies these past few days:

The Muppets - surprisingly one of my highlights of 2012 so far :) I got dragged along by some mates at work somewhat reluctantly as I've never really watched Muppets. I wound up watching the entire film with a massive smile on my face. Echoing what was said by one of our group as we exited, I suspect we enjoyed that far more than we should have :)

The Artist - sweet film, the dog definitely deserves any and all nominations it receives. Visually just gorgeous to look at, from make-up to the sets to the costumes, this was just a feast for the eyes. Plus hats off to whoever wrote that score.

Drive - great film. Having previously had no real idea who Ryan Gosling was I was utterly impressed by him by the time credits rolled. Again, whoever was in charge of the sound/soundtrack deserves serious props. Great music, great car engines (did SPN fandom enjoy seeing the impala again?), and a captivating performance from the leading man.

Archipelago - hmm, not too sure on this one. I enjoyed it but I wouldn't be surprised if others find it rather self-indulgent and I wouldn't blame them. Felt like the first outing of a new director, rather than her second. Suffice to say it's your usual study of a family who aren't as perfectly happy as first impressions might suggest.

And finally! Two links to pass on.

1) With the Oscars/Baftas out the way, it's time for the real awards to be dished up. Yes! It's the Empire Movie Awards. Nominations are up and it's up to you to cast the deciding vote :) Cast your vote right this way...

2) Fan-credits: 'Friends' version of 'The Avengers'. I enjoyed this far too much, mainly because I can picture in my head the warped AU where all these guys are flat-sharing and generally driving each other crazy, and it's a glorious if insane world.
